국문 초록

본 연구의 목적은 결혼이주 여성을 며느리로 맞이한 다문화가족 노인의 우울감과 영향요인을 규명하는 것이다. 이를 위해 유의표집과 눈덩이표집으로 추출된 대전지역 다문화가족 노인 155명을 대상으로 개인적, 가족적, 사회적 및 문화적 관련 변인의 영향력을 위계적 다중회귀분석 방법으로 검증하였다. 주요 연구 결과 첫째, CES-D로 측정된 다문화가족 노인의 우울감은 평균 27.30점(SD=10.69)으로 나타났으며, 조사대상자의 75% 정도가 임상적 개입이 시급한 매우 심각하고 고통스러운 우울 상태인 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 이러한 우려할만한 우울감에 영향을 미치는 주요 변인으로는 결혼이주 여성과의 문화적응 스트레스, 사회적 지지 유무, 결혼이주 여성과의 관계 만족도, 건강 상태, 배우자 유무로 밝혀졌다. 셋째, 위의 결과를 바탕으로 다문화가족 노인의 우울감을 완화하고, 심리사회적 안녕감을 향상시키기 위한 사회복지 실천적인 함의를 제언하였다.

영문 초록

Depression is one of the most commonly reported psychological problems experienced by the elderly, and it has been linked with a number of psychosocial factors such as high stress level and limited social support. With a growing number of the elderly living in multicultural families, it is important to examine how they are faring as they encounter cultural and social challenges associated with forming a new family. This study thus has two main objectives; first, to explore the depression of the elderly individuals in multicultural families and second, to examine the effect of various psychosocial factors such as acculturative stress, relationship satisfaction with their daughter-in-laws, and social support on depression. A total of 155 individuals residing in Daejeon participated in the survey and the result showed that a majority of the elderly were indeed experiencing a high level of depression. The findings also showed their marital status, satisfaction level of their relationships with daughter-in-laws, having someone to talk to, acculturative stress, and health status were significant predictors of their depression level. Based on these findings, practical and policy implications are provided.
