국문 초록

월북 이후 박태원의 창작활동은 대하역사소설『계명산천은 밝아 오느냐』와『갑오농민전쟁』을 중심으로 주로 리얼리즘의 미학과 강령 그리고 주체문예 이론의 틀 안에서 논의 되었다. 본고는 그동안 연구자들에게 주목 받지 못한 박태원의 그림책『갑오농민전쟁』(박태원 글, 홍종원 그림, 국립 미술 출판사, 1960)을 중심으로 아동문학과 성인문학의 고유한 특성과 경계가 새롭게 재구성되고 결합되는 과정을 중심으로 이 작품의 내적 구조를 분석하였다. 박태원의 그림책『갑오농민전쟁』은 한 텍스트 내에 아동문학의 요소와 성인문학의 요소를 뒤섞은 매우 독특한 작품이다. 이 작품은 형식적인 측면에서 전형적인 그림책이다. 양쪽 펼침면에 상단은 그림, 하단은 글로 구성되어 있다. 하지만 주요인물들이 성인으로 등장한다는 점, 이미지와 텍스트의 상호작용에 의한 시간 전개의 복잡성, 일반적인 아동문학 출판과는 다른 판형 등을 고려할 때 단순히 아동을 대상으로 한 그림책으로만 평가하기 어렵다. 이 작품은 하나의 텍스트 안에 성인과 아동이라는 이중의 내포독자를 고려한 다양한 미학적 특질들을 동시에 지니고 있다. 이러한 그림책의 구조와 특징은 아동문학에서 일반적으로 유아기에 대응하는 양식으로서의 그림책을 벗어나는 것이다. 이 작품은 1960년대 북한의 문화 정치적인 변동에 대응해서 출현한 독특한 그림책 양식 중 하나로 볼 수 있다. 기존의 아동문학적 요소와 성인문학적 요소를 재조합하면서 북한의 사회적 문맥에 맞는 새로운 대중적 그림책 양식의 출현 과정이라는 맥락에서 이 작품을 이해할 수 있다.

영문 초록

Since defecting to North Korea, Park Tae-Won's creating activities have been discussed mainly in the frame of aesthetics and doctrines of realism and theory of subjectivity literature focusing on Gyemyeong mountain and river become bright and Kab-O Peasant Rebellion(on epic history novel). But focusing on Park, Tae-Won's picture book, Kab-O Peasant Rebellion(written by Park, Tae-Won, illustrated by Hong, Jong Won, National Art Publisher, 1960) which used to be neglected by researchers, this article analyzed the inner structure of this work by concentrating on the process in which the original characteristics and boundaries of children's literature and adult's literature are newly restructured and combined. Park, Tae-Won's picture book, Kab-O Peasant Rebellion is a very unique work in which the elements of children's literature and adult's literature are all mixed together. In the aspect of its form, this work is a typical picture book. When opening the book, there are pictures on the upper parts while stories are on the bottoms. however, considering the facts of adult main characters, complexity of time flow by the interaction between images and texts, different format from general children's literature, it is hard to estimate this as a simple picture book for children. This work contains various aesthetic characteristics as considering multiple implied readers like adults and children in a singular text. Such structure and characteristics of this picture book are out of the picture book with a general style to cope with early childhood. This work might have one of the unique picture book styles that started appearing to cope with cultural and political changes in North Korea of 1960s. This work could be understood in the context of appearing process of new popular picture book styles suitable for the social context in North Korea by recombining the elements of the existing children's literature with adult literary elements.
