국문 초록

이 연구는 현장의 중등학교 특수학급 교사를 직접 인터뷰하여 특수학급 교육과정 운영의 실태와 교사들의 인식을 들어보고 일반교육과정의 학습권 안에 있는 중등학교 장애학생들을 위한 특수학급 교육과정 운영의 최선은 무엇인지 알아보고자 하였다. 그에 따른 결론은 첫째, 일반교육과정과의 괴리감을 없애기 위한 계획은 다양하였지만 일반학생들보다 생활능력이 떨어지는 특수교육대상 학생들을 위해 직업교육과 같은 경험 위주의 활동을 중심으로 교육과정을 운영하고 있었으며, 학습 면에서의 괴리감을 좁히는 방법은 교수자료의 수정이 아직까지 그 대안이었다. 그러나 근본적인 교육과정 운영의 정책적인 책임감없이 특수교사의 역량과 가치판단만으로 교육과정을 운영해 나가는 일은 앞으로 한계를 드러내게 될 것임을 논의를 통해 알 수 있었다. 둘째, 독자적인 특수교육과정을 운영하기 위해서는 좀 더 구체적이고 분명한 일반교육과정과의 협력이 필요할 것으로 보인다. 개별적이며 구체적인 장애학생의 교육과정이 일반교육과정 안에서 적용되기 위해서는 교사의 인식전환만을 강조할 것이 아니라 일반교육과정 계획 시부터 특수교육의 교육과정이 구체적으로 반영되어야 할 것이다.

영문 초록

The present study interviewed teachers in chargee of special education classes in secondary schools to examine the status and problems as well as directions for improvements in running the curriculum for special education classes. Furthermore, this study aimed to establish a foothold for a policy to run the curriculum for the handicapped secondary students who are subject to the right for learning under the normal curriculum. To sum up, first, in regard of the status of running the curriculum for special education classes in secondary schools, it is difficult to rid the disjunction from the normal curriculum, but it was found that schools were running experience-oriented special curriculums, e. g. vocational training for the handicapped students considering the fact that their life skills are not as good as those of normal students. Second, in terms of specific problems, although the curriculum may develop further as the number of special education teachers capable of gathering external factors for special education curriculum increases, cooperation in running the curriculum for the benefit of the right for learning of students needing special education is hard to achieve by special education teachers’ efforts alone. Third, regarding directions for improvements, interviewed teachers suggested provision of specific manuals, physical support for efficient operation, implementation of flexible curriculum and independent curriculum for special education classes within regular schools. To achieve the independent curriculum for special education classes in secondary schools, specific guidelines are required; training students who need special education to be self-reliant in life should be supported at the national level; and the curriculum need be reorganized. After all, the findings here indicate as directions for improvements that the curriculum directly relevant to the handicapped students’ future life must be systematically designed and operated.
