서울굿판에서 무속 지식의 전승과 교육

국문 초록

이 논문은 서울굿판에서 무속 지식이 어떻게 전승되고 교육되는지를 연구한 글이다. 서울굿판에는 ‘문서’라는 말이 있어 무속 지식 전승의 핵심이 된다. ‘문서’는 서울굿과 관련이 있는 모든 지식의 총합을 말하는 것으로, 결국 무속 지식의 전승은 문서의 전승이 된다. 이러한 문서는 먼저 지역성을 기반으로 한다. 서울굿은 동쪽지역과 서쪽지역이 사뭇 달랐는데, 무당은 자신이 거주하는 지역의 문서를， 지역에 있는 여러 선배 무당을 통해 습득했다. 지역성을 넘어서는 굿문서 습득은 존재하기 어려웠다. 이를 통해 굿판은 나름대로의 질서를 잡아갔다. 이와 함께 가족 중심의 문서 전승도 중요한 부분을 차지했고， 마을굿을 연행하는 당주무당의 경우에는 지역성과 가족관계를 모두 포함하는 특정이 있다. 최근에는 새로운 무속 지식 전승의 장이 생겼는데 무속학원이 대표적이다. 무속인들은 편리하게 학원에 등록하여 자신이 원하는 무속지식을 쉽게 배울 수 있어 인기가 높다. 아울러 최근에 결성되 여러 ‘보존회’도 무속 지식 전승에 중요한 역할을 담당한다. 아울러 새로운 매체로서 다양한 서적이나 영상물도 무속 지식 전승에 기여하고 있으며 인터넷도 무속 지식 전승의 중요한 수단이 되었다. 또한 굿당에서 다른 무당들의 굿을 보면서 나름의 굿 지식을 연마하기도 했다. 이처럼 다양한 무속 지식의 전승은 과거의 인간 관계 중심의 굿판에서 기계적인 이익을 따지는 굿판으로 변화한 것과 맞물려 있다. 더 이상 신부모와 신자식의 인간관계로 무속 지식을 배우기보디는 편리한 여러 방법으로 무속 지식을 배우고 있다. 아울러 기술이 부족하더라도 기능이 뛰어난 여러 무당들을 자신의 굿판에 불러들일 수 있게 되면서 무속 지식을 배우기보다는 굿을 많이 담당하는 것에 치중하게 되었다.

영문 초록

This study aims to examine how shamanistic knowledge is transmitted and learned in Seoul Gutpan. Regarding Seoul Gutpan, there is a term, ‘Munseo’, which is the core of the transmission of shamanistic knowledge. ‘Munseo’ refers to the sum of all knowledge related with Seoul Gut. In other words, the transmission of shamanistic knowledge is the transmission of Munseo. First, such Munseo is based on regionality. Seoul Gut is different by regions between the east and the west. Shamans acquired Munseo of the region where they lived through the shamans living in it. It was hard for them to acquire Munseo beyond regionality. Through this, Gutpan came to have its own order. Along with this, family-centered Munseo transmission became an important part of it. And recently, the academy of shamanism newly appeared as a new space for the transmission of shamanistic knowledge. It is popular because the people of shamanism can enroll in the academy and learn shamanistic knowledge they want easily and conveniently. Furthermore, many ‘preservation associations’ organized lately are playing crucial roles in the transmission of shamanistic knowledge. And various books or movies are also contributing to the transmission of shamanistic knowledge as new kinds of media. The internet also has become a crucial means for the transmission of shamanistic knowledge. And they also learn knowledge of Gut by watching other shamans' Gut in a Gutdang. Like this, the transmission of various shamanistic knowledge was based on Gutpan centering around relationships at first in the past but now is associated with Gutpan valuing interest. They tend to learn shamanistic knowledge not through tradition but through various convenient ways. Also, even though they lack skills, they can bring many shamans having good skills to their own Gutpan, so now they tend to regard throwing many Guts is more important than learning shamanistic knowledge.
