영문 초록

This paper aims to discuss the issues which are to solved for the unification of pronunciational rules between the North and South Korea. For this purpose, We’ve analyzed the differences of pronunciational rules, and clarified the causes of difference from various angles, such as political system, theoretical standpoint, and dialectal backgrounds and so on. And finally we’ve attempted to present the directions that will lead to linguistic unification of Korea. In chapter two, we’ve analyzed the differences and causes of pronunciational rules between the North and South Korea. General principle of pronunciational rules, pronunciation of vowels and consonants, duration of vowel, pronunciation of coda, pronunciation of assimilation, fortition and insertion etc. have bæn discussed in order. Through this investigation, it was made clear that the problem of dialect and age group will be the key issues which are solved urgently in discussion on the unification. In chapter Three, we’ve presented some of directions for the linguistic unification of Korea as follows. Firstly, it is necessary that linguists of both sides have to investigate the actual aspects of pronunciation jointly, and make a study of plans for the unification with those consequences. Secondly, the organization which is in charge of the unification needs to be non-government committee linguists from the North and South, and the role of government needs to be to confirm the agreement of the committee. And thirdly, multiple strategies for the unification are necessary according to the various scenarios of unificational process.
