조기 문식성 검사의 개발 및 표준화 연구

국문 초록

배경 및 목적: 본 연구에서는 국내외 선행문헌에서 읽기 능력의 예측변인으로 제안된 변인을 반영하여 조기 문식성 검사를 개발하고, 개발된 조기 문식성 검사의 신뢰도와 타당도를 검증하고자 하였다. 방법: 국내외 이론적 근거 및 예비 검사를 통해 조기 문식성 검사를 개발하여, 만 5～7세 아동 288명을 대상으로 표준화 검사를 실시하였다. 결과: 문항 간소화 과정을 통해 마련된 본 조기 문식성 검사의 최종안은 5개의 하위검사로 구성된 음운인식 검사(음절분리, 음절탈락, 음절대치, 음소변별, 음소대치), 2개의 하위검사로 구성된 자모지식 검사(자음이름, 모음이름), 1개의 하위검사로 구성된 빠른자동이름대기 검사(글자)를 포함하였다. 본 조기 문식성 검사의 신뢰도를 문항내적합치도와 측정의 표준오차를 통해 확인한 결과, 문항내적합치도는 높게 나타났으며, 측정의 표준오차는 낮게 나타났다. 본 조기 문식성 검사의 타당도는 내용타당도, 구인타당도, 공인타당도를 통해 확인하였다. 구체적으로, 조기 문식성 검사의 내용타당도는 국내외 선행 문헌 및 검사 분석을 통해 확인하였다. 구인타당도와 관련하여서는 본 조기 문식성 검사가 음운인식, 자모지식, 빠른자동이름대기로 구성된 것에 대해 확인적 요인분석 결과를 통해 확인하였다. 공인타당도는 KISE 기초학력검사-음독 및 짧은글 이해와 본 검사와의 상관을 통해 확인하였다. 논의 및 결론: 본 조기 문식성 검사는 표준화된 검사로서 읽기 위험군 아동을 조기에 선별하는데 활용될 것으로 기대된다. 또한 본 연구는 국내 조기문식성 검사에 음운인식, 자모지식, 빠른자동이름대기가 포함되는 것이 타당하다는 결과를 제시한데 의의가 있다. 끝으로, 본 연구 결과의 요약, 연구 결과의 제한점 및 향후 연구에 관한 제언이 논의되었다.

영문 초록

Background & Objectives: The purpose of the present study was to develop an early literacy test based on predictive variables of reading achievement and to conduct a standardization study to examine the reliability and validity of the test. Methods: An early literacy test was developed through an extensive literature review of existing tests performed in a preliminary study. The standardization testing was conducted with 288 children ages 5 to 7 years to examine reliability and validity. Results: After item reduction of the early literacy test, the final version consisted of five phonological awareness subtests (syllable isolation, syllable deletion, syllable substitution, phoneme discrimination, and phoneme substitution), two letter knowledge subtests (vowel name and consonant name), and one rapid automatized naming subtest. The results of internal consistency reliability and standard error of measurement demonstrated satisfactory reliability. Specifically, the results demonstrated high internal consistency reliability and low standard error of measurement. The results of content validity, construct validity, and concurrent validity demonstrated satisfactory validity. Specifically, content validity was obtained through the review of literature and related tests. Confirmative factor analysis showed that phonological awareness, rapid automatized naming and phonological memory were independent reading areas. Regarding concurrent validity, significant correlations were detected between the early literacy test and KISE BAAT decoding as well as the reading comprehension subtest. Discussion & Conclusion: Results are discussed in terms of value of the test serving as an early screening test for children at risk for reading difficulties. Additionally, the present study suggests that the early literacy test in Korea should consist of phonological awareness, letter knowledge, and rapid automatized naming subtests. The present paper summarizes the results and discusses the study limitations of such a test.
