대학특성별 등록금 수준 차이 및 영향요인 분석

국문 초록

대학순위평가 등으로 인해 고등교육의 시장적 경쟁체제가 보편화되면서, 각 대학들은 대학의 순위와 국제적 명성을 높이기 위해 많은 재원을 투자하고 있다. 이러한 재원의 투자는 전체적인 대학의 지출 증가로 이어져, 결과적으로 학생부담인 대학 등록금 상승으로 이어지고 있다. 등록금 수준 및 세출구조는 대학의 다양한 특성에 의해 달라질 수 있는 바, 이 연구에서는 대학특성에 따라 대학 등록금 수준 차이 및 세출구조의 차이를 분석하고 대학 등록금에 영향을 미치는 요인을 실증적으로 분석하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 이 연구는 대학알리미에서 제공하는 4년제 사립대학 118개교의 자료를 수집하여 2009년과 2010년 2개년 패널데이터를 구축하여 분석을 실시하였다. 분석 결과에 따르면, 첫째, 학교미션, 학교소재지, 학문의 범위 및 최종학위 수준에 따라 등록금 수준에 통계적으로 유의미한 차이가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 대학특성에 따른 세출구조의 차이를 살펴보면, 연구중심대학의 경우 전임교원 1인당 급여, 직원 1인당 인건비, 전임교원 1인당 교내연구비가 통계적으로 유의미하게 일반대학에 비해 더 높게 나타났다. 셋째, 대학특성 및 세출구조가 등록금에 미치는 영향을 분석한 결과, 수도권에 위치한 대학과 종합대학의 경우 등록금 수준이 보다 더 높게 나타났으며, 학교인지도가 높을수록, 전임교원 1인당 학생수가 적을수록, 전입 및 기부수입이 적을수록 등록금 수준이 보다 더 높게 나타났다. 세출구조에 있어서는 전임교원 1인당 급여, 학생1인당 학생경비가 등록금 수준에 통계적으로 유의미한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다.

영문 초록

As the competitive market system, including university ranking, has been common, universities have invested lots of finances to get a high university ranking and international reputation. Because of this, the overall expenditure of universities have increased and tuition rising has been led. Since the tuition level and expenditure structure would be varied by the diverse university characteristics, the purposes of this study are to examine difference of university tuition level and structure of annual expenditure according to university characteristics and to analyze the effect on tuition empirically. To do this, data of 118 four-year private university from Academyinfo were collected and panel data of 2009,2010 through this data were built and analyzed. According to the result of this study, first, there was statistically significant difference in tuition level by the university mission, location of university, range of discipline and final degree level. Second, on the investigation of structure difference of annual expenditure by university characteristics, in the case of research university, per capita income of full-time faculty, income per person of staff, per capita intramural research fund of full-time faculty were statistically significant higher than that of general university. Third, according to the analysis of the effect of university characteristics and structure of annul expenditure on tuition, in the case of universities located in capital area and comprehensive universities, the tuition level was higher. Moreover, as the school awareness was higher and the number of students per full-time faculty was lower and the amount of transferred and donated revenue was lower, the tuition level appeared higher. Finally, in the structure of annual expenditure, per capita income of full-time faculty, per capita student expenses of students gave statistically significant effect on tuition level.
