읽기 성취 및 읽기 심리처리 검사의 신뢰도와 타당도에 관한 연구

국문 초록

배경 및 목적: 언어의 투명도와 상관없이 다양한 언어권에서 읽기 능력을 예측하는 변인이 비슷하게 보고되었다. 국내 연구들에서도 지난 10여년 간 읽기 능력에 대한 예측변인을 밝히고자 하는 노력이 이루져 왔고, 여러 읽기 검사들이 개발되었다. 하지만, 읽기의 다양한 영역(단어인지, 읽기유창성, 읽기이해)별 읽기 성취도와 각 읽기 영역의 기저에 관여하는 심리처리를 전반적으로 평가하는 데는 다소 미흡한 부분이 있었다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 다양한 읽기 영역별 성취도와 심리처리를 기반으로 읽기 검사를 개발한 후, 읽기 검사의 신뢰도와 타당도를 검증하고자 하였다. 방법: 국내외 이론적 근거 및 예비 검사를 통해 읽기 성취도와 읽기 심리처리로 구성된 읽기 검사를 개발하였다. 초등학교 1학년∼초등학교 6학년 총 511명을 대상으로 표준화 검사를 실시한 후, 신뢰도와 타당도를 평가하였다. 결과: 본 연구의 주요 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 본 읽기 검사의 신뢰도를 문항내적합치도와 측정의 표준오차를 통해 확인한 결과, 대부분의 소검사와 영역 척도의 문항내적합치도는 높게 나타났으며, 소검사와 영역 척도의 측정의 표준오차는 전반적으로 낮게 나타났다. 둘째, 본 읽기 검사의 타당도는 내용타당도, 구인타당도, 공인타당도를 통해 확인하였다. 구체적으로, 읽기 검사의 내용타당도는 국내외 선행문헌 및 검사 분석을 통해 확인하였다. 구인타당도와 관련하여서는 본 읽기 검사가 단어인지, 읽기유창성, 읽기이해 구성된 것에 대해 확인적 요인분석 결과를 통해 확인하였고, 단어인지, 읽기유창성, 읽기이해 심리처리 변인은 회귀분석 결과를 통해 확인하였다. 공인타당도는 KISE 기초학력검사의 음독과 본 읽기 검사의 단어인지 영역 간 상관과 KISE 기초학력검사의 짧은 글 이해와 본 읽기 검사의 읽기영역 간 상관을 통해 확인하였다. 논의 및 결론: 본 읽기 검사는 표준화된 검사로써 학생들의 교육적 요구를 파악하고, 읽기장애 진단을 하는데 활용될 것으로 기대된다. 끝으로, 본 연구 결과의 요약, 연구 결과의 제한점 및 향후 연구에 관한 제언이 논의되었다.

영문 초록

Background & Objectives: Regardless of language and orthography, similar variables that predict reading achievement have been identified. In the past 10 years, several studies have examined variables that predict reading achievement and have developed reading tests. However, there is no standardized reading test that measures reading achievement in three areas of reading (i.e., word recognition, reading fluency, and reading comprehension) as well as the psychological process variables underlying reading achievement in these areas. Thus, the purpose of this study was to develop a reading test that measures reading achievement and psychological processes in these three areas and to examine its reliability and validity. Methods: Through extensive literature and existing test review with a preliminary study, a reading test consisting of reading achievement and psychological processes was developed. Standardization testing was conducted with 511 students to examine reliability and validity. Results: The results of internal consistency reliability and the standard error of measurement demonstrated satisfactory reliability. Specifically, the results demonstrated high internal consistency reliability and a low standard error of measurement. The results of content validity, construct validity, and concurrent validity demonstrated satisfactory validity. Content validity was obtained by a literature review and related tests. Confirmative factor analysis showed that word recognition, reading fluency, and reading comprehension were independent reading areas. Psychological process variables underlying word recognition, reading fluency, and reading comprehension were selected based on the results of multiple regression analysis. Regarding concurrent validity, significant correlations were found between the word recognition subtest and the KISE BAAT decoding subtest and between the reading comprehension subtest and the KISE BAAT comprehension subtest. Discussion & Conclusions: Results were discussed in terms of the value of the test in identifying students’ instructional needs and serving as a diagnostic test for reading disabilities. Results were summarized and the study limitations were discussed.
