국문 초록

이번 연구의 배경은 ‘컨버전스’라는 새로운 융복합적 개념과 인식을 바탕으로 변화해온 동시대 미술로서의 텍스타일아트가 표현되어지는 양상들을, 컨버전스의 개념 및 문화예술의 시대적인 경향에서 조망하는데 두고 있다. 따라서 본 연구는 먼저 컨버전스 시대의 징후와 의미를 이해하는 것으로 시작하였고, 이를 사회문화적으로 접근시켜보았다. 현재 가속화되고 있는 컨버전스는 마샬 맥루헌에서 비롯한 ‘미디어’, ‘마사지’, ‘잡종화’와 이티엘 데솔라 풀의 ‘미디어 컨버전스’와 더불어 포스트모더니즘 이후 ‘하이브리드’에 결부된 개념이라고 할 수 있다. 전 지구적으로 가속화되고 있는 ‘디지털 컨버전스’ 환경은 변화를 초래함으로써 자연히 문화산업을 적극 지향하게 한다. 더 나아가 최근 ‘디지털 컨버전스’의 새로운 변화상은 ‘하이테크(High Tech)에서 하이컬처(High Culture)로의 패러다임의 변화에 의한 하이콘셉트(High Concept)의 시대’를 야기하는데 있다. 하이콘셉트의 성공적 구현의 관건은 인간의 감정을 이해하고 공감을 끌어내는 하이더치(High Touch)이다. ‘미디어 컨버전스’, ‘디지털 컨버전스’, ‘하이콘셉트’ 의 추이는 시각적 이미지의 확산은 물론, 궁극적으로 예술과 감성의 강조를 초래한다. 바로 위와 같은 배경에서, 본 연구는 동시대의 예술로 자리매김해온 텍스타일아트 개념의 재인식과 표현양상을 짚어보는데 목적을 두고 있다. 무엇보다 텍스타일아트는 그 개념 자체가 수공예ㆍ미술ㆍ디자인의 ‘컨버전스’ 이자 20세기말 이후 기술의 영역들인 미디어 및 디지털의 요소를 적극적으로 융합해왔다. 염직공예, 섬유공예, 섬유예술, 텍스타일 디자인, 텍스타일아트 등의 여러 호칭을 포괄하는 ‘섬유표현’ 의 범주 및 양상에 대한 뜨거운 논의는 원시시대로부터 비롯한 직물이나 섬유라는 범주의 역사를 벗어나게 하는 동시에, 지금끼지 지속된 변화의 시도 자체가 ‘컨버전스 시대’ 를 수용할 수 있는 예술적 태도라고 하겠다. 이러한 융복합의 시대 의식이 지향하는 인간ㆍ역사ㆍ사회ㆍ문화예술 등의 연동은, 향후 텍스타일아트의 다양하고 창의적인 표현내용 및 형식들에도 시사하는 바가 될 것이다.

영문 초록

Background of this study lies seeing under not only the concept of convergence but also the trend of culture and art motived from the aspects of textile art-expression as a contemporary art, which has been changed through the new fusion concept and cognition of convergence. First, I would discuss correct understanding about symptom and meaning of convergence, then consider its socio-cultural side. Now accelerated convergence can be related to Marshall McLuhan’s 'Media’, 'Message’, ‘Hybridisierung’, Ithiel de Sola Pool's ‘Media Convergence’. and ‘hybrid' after postmodernism. 'Digital Convergence', that is speeded up by globalization, brings on change and aims positively the Cultural Industries. Futhermore, last new change of ‘Digital Convergence’, that is transition of paradigm shift from High Tech to High Culture, causes High Concept age, The key point of successful High Concept realization is High Touch which arouses human beings' sympathy and understands their emotion, Progress of 'Media Convergence’, ‘Digital Convergence’, and ‘High Concept' brings ultimately the stress of art and sensibility as well as the spread of visual image. Such background, the aim of this study reviews expression aspects of textile art which has become as a contemporary art, Especially, textile art is convergence of art and design and has positively reflected on the elements of media and digital since the end of twenty centuries. In the lively discussion about category and dimension of ‘Fiber-Expression’ that includes various titles like dyeing craft, fiber craft, fiber art, textile design, textile art, and so on, can make beyond the historical category such as fabric and fiber from the primitive times, Also the attempt of change itself which is continued up to now might be an artistic attitude that we can agree the convergence age, This fusion concept aims at the interlocking of man, history, society, culture and art, also it will be a implications for various and original expression of textile art.
