영문 초록

There are 60,000 pieces of Dunhuang manuscripts and eighty-five percent of them are Buddhist sutras and Taoist scriptures. These manuscripts are very valuable to Chinese philology researches although they haven’t been attached a great attention by many scholars in the past time. Now we use advanced computer technique to cut authentic folk and variant character forms from Dunhuang manuscripts pictures and compile Dunhuang Chinese Character Dictionary. In the dictionary we will also do a lot of explanation to character forms, sounds and meaning. At present Chinese Character Dictionary includes the most quantity of characters forms. But it omitted lots of folk characters forms in Dunhuang manuscripts, and that many folk characters forms included are mistake in the transformation process from scripts to type fonts.In addition, Chinese Regular Script Dictionary, Chinese Running-penmanship Dictionary, Chinese Cursive Script Dictionary and ChineseLiScriptDictionaryincludethemost quantity of authentic characters forms. But they only pay attention to a few ancient copybooks, and lots of character forms are same. For this reason these dictionaries don’t have important meaning to Chinese philology studies. Dunhuang Chinese Character Dictionary will remedy the defects of above dictionaries. So we believe that our work is innovative and worthwhile to Chinese philology researches. Our work will be carried out by four steps. 1. Assembling pictures of Dunhuang manuscripts collected in many countries or areas such as England, France, Russia, Japan, China and making a catalog of manuscripts we need. 2. Scanning all necessary Dunhuang manuscripts pictures. 3. Using computer to select and cut character forms from Dunhuang manuscripts pictures and transcribing corresponding sentences. 4. Putting all different forms of the same characters together. 5. Doing necessary explanation to those characters. 6. Accomplishing the electronic texts and print texts that can provide to publishing house. Dunhuang Chinese Character Dictionary has four volumes that include Li script, Regular script, Running-penmanship and Cursive Script.
