영문 초록

This paper aims to provide some strategies for the successful operation of Jeju Global Education City. To achieve this purpose, we examine the possibility of and the preconditions for JGEC’s success. The attraction of prestigious foreign schools and the construction of necessary infrastructure seem to guarantee the bright prospect for JGEC. In addition, JGEC has a lot to do to maintain its competitiveness inside and outside Korea. It should attract enough students to meet its admission quota, keep classes competitive, and encourage foreign students to come to JGEC. Furthermore, it needs to gain the upper hand over other foreign schools in Korea in terms of competitiveness by using its leading status in the English education field. For the efficient and successful operation of JGEC, this paper provides some useful strategies including high-quality classes in schools, an English-friendly environment in and out of school, the strengthening of domestic and international competitiveness, and the assurance of consistent administrative and financial support of the Korean government.
