정신장애인의 가족, 동료, 정신보건전문가와의 사회적 관계가 자기효능에 미치는 영향 연구

국문 초록

정신장애인이 회복하기 위해서는 스스로 심신건강을 보살피며 주변 자원을 활용하는 수행능력인 자기효능이 중요하고, 이를 강화하고 유지하는 데는 가족, 동료, 정신보건전문가와의 유대를 비롯하여 다양한 사회적 관계가 필요하다. 이에 본 연구는 기존에 검토되지 않은 사회적 관계의 다각적인 측면을 살펴보고, 특히 각 구체적 대상과의 사회적 관계가 심리사회적 기능, 사회망 및 사회교류와 어떠한 관계를 보이며, 자기효능을 설명하는데 얼마나 더 기여하는지를 살펴보았 다. 지역사회에 거주하는 460명의 정신장애인 을 대상으로 한 자료를 분석한 결과, 첫째, 참여자들은 가족, 동료, 전문가와 긍정적, 부정적인 사회적 관계를 모두 경험하고, 상대적으로 좀 더 높은 정도인 긍정적인 사회적 관계는 정신건강상태와 장애정도, 희망감, 대인관계능력, 의논할사람 수, 상호원조, 가족교류와 정적 상관을 보였다. 둘째, 가족, 동료, 전문가와의 긍정적인 사회적 관계는 심리사회적 기능 변인을 중심으로 한 회귀모델이 자기효능을 설명하는 정도를 넘지 못했으나, 사회망 및 교류 변인들의 모델에 대해서는 유의한 설명력을 더하였다. 특히 동료관계의 설명력이 유의하였다. 셋째, 부정적인 사회적 관계는 심리사회적 기능이나 사회관계와 교류 변인들 이상으로 유의한 설명력을 더하지 못했다. 이러한 결과에 따라 정신장애인들을 위한 사회복지실천의 함의를 제언하였다.

영문 초록

In order for a person with mental illness to recover, he/she needs to be able to execute the self in both taking care of the illness and utilizing social resources, and this self-efficacy can be strengthened and maintained by various social relationships including relations with her/his family, peer, and mental health professional. This study investigated different aspects of the social relationship that have not been examined in existing studies, relationships between the social relationship with those people including positive and negative experiences and psychosocial functioning or social network and transaction, and explanatory power of the social relationship with family, peer, professional for the self-efficacy. Based on the data from 460 persons with mental illness residing in community, major findings were: 1) Participants showed both positive and negative relationship with family, peer, and professional and there were positive correlations between each of positive social relationships and each of the state of mental health and disability, hopefulness, ability for interpersonal relations, number of confidants, level of mutual helping, family's social transactions. 2) The positive social relationship variables with the family/peer/professional did not add any significant explanatory power over and above the model with psychosocial functioning variables for the self efficacy, but added some explanatory power to the variables of social network and transactions. Especially, peer relationship showed a significant explanatory power. 3) Negative relationships did not contribute to the explanation for the self efficacy. Following these results, discussions and implications for social work practice were suggested.
