국문 초록

본 연구는 한국 여성중도장애인들의 장애 이전과 이후 생애발달과정을 살펴봄으로써 이들의 삶을 이해하는데 그 목적이 있다. 이를 위하여 서울과 경기지역에 거주하는 6명의 생애사를 슛제(Schütze)의 즉흥 이야기식 인터뷰로 자료수집 하였으며, 수집된 자료를 ‘인생진행의 과정구조’로 분석한 후, 중도장애인이 되기 전․후의 생애발달의 의미를 잘 살펴볼 수 있는 3사례를 다시 선정하여 심도 있게 분석(Eckfall Analysis)하였다. 이 과정에서 연구대상자가 직접 구술한 삶의 역사를 구성한 후, 각 사례의 최소․최대의 비교분석에 의해 재구성하였다. 재구성 결과, 여성중도 장애인들은 자신의 장애를 특정한 사고가 아닌 일상의 한 사건으로 받아들이고 있음을 발견하였다. 이것은 사고 이후 신체적 ․ 정신적 변화에 대한 탐색 과정이 생략된 채 적응만을 위한 행위에 초점을 두고 있어 장애수용의 어려움이 되는 원인이기도 하다. 장애를 사건으로 받아들이는 이러한 인식과 함께 여성중도장애인들의 생애사에서 밝혀진 또 다른 괄목할 만 한 점은 한 인간으로서가 아닌 성역할(인습)에 각인 된 여성으로서 자신을 정의하고 있다는 것이다. 이를 극복하기 위한 방안으로 자신의 역할을 여성이라는 성에 근거하여 제한하도록 하는 인습적 수준의 사회적 분위기의 변화와 여성장애인 스스로 자신의 정체성을 재탐색하고 자신의 역할을 재 정의하는 경로창출(path creation)과정의 필요성을 제시하였다.

영문 초록

This research is intended to understand biography of Korean women with acquired disabilities by interpreting their biographical development before and after disability. To this end, life stories of six persons living in Seoul and Gyeonggi Province were collected and the narrative interview developed by Schütze was used as a method of data collecting. To construct and reconstruct cases the collected data was analyzed with ‘process structure of life'. Then, three cases were selected and Eckfall Analysis was conducted to find out meaning of biographical development before and after disability. History of biography told by research targets was constructed by a researcher and the entire cases were compared/reconstructed through maximum․minimum comparison. The reconstruction result shows that women with disabilities after an accident considered their disabilities not as a specific accident but as a daily incident, which means there is an absence of an acceptance process in terms of disability. Besides, cases regarded themselves as those imprinted as gender role(convention) not as a human being in a conventional social atmosphere. In order to overcome these kinds of their thoughts, path creation process and social infrastructure supporting the process are required to help women with disabilities after an accident to re-explore their identity and re-define their roles.
