국문 초록

실리콘 고무는 미국의 다우코닝사에서 1942년에 상업화한 이래로 과학의 발전과 더불어 비약적인 발전을 거듭하여 오늘날 첨단 산업의 소재로부터 우리의 인체 내부의 보형물에 이르기까지 광범위하게 사용되고 있다. 현재 미술 분야에서도 실리콘 고무는 특유의 성질인 신축성과 내구성을 바탕으로 하여 작품 제작에 널리 사용되고 있으며, 그중에서도 귀금속공예 분야에서는 캐스팅 기법의 고무주형으로 가장 많이 사용되고 있다. 이것은 귀금속공예 분야에서의 획기적인 성장을 이룩하는 계기가 되었다. 1940년대 이전에는 귀금속 제품의 제작방식이 주로 일품(一品)작업이 주류였지만 이후 실리콘 고무의 개발로 인하여 그 특성을 활용한 고무주형이 만들어지게 되었고, 이를 통하여 양질의 왁스 패턴이 양산되고, 이는 곧 귀금속의 품질향상과 대량생산의 체계를 이룩하게 되었기 때문이다. 그 후로 다양한 실리콘 고무가 개발 되었고, 귀금속 제품의 생산성과 품질 향상에 지속적인 기여를 하고 있다. 그럼에도 불구하고 국내 귀금속 분야에서는 실리콘 고무주형에 관한 지식은 편협(編狹)하거나, 알고 있어도 오인(誤認)하고 있는 경우가 대부분이어서 심도 있는 연구가 필요한 실정이다. 이에 본 연구에서는 금속공예 분야, 특히 귀금속 분야에서 사용 되어지는 실리콘 고무의 체계적인 정리와 더불어 그 특성에 맞는 사용범위와 방법 등을 알아보고 또한 귀금속 캐스팅에서 필수과정인 실리콘 고무로 제작 되어진 주형(鑄型)의 제작기법과 절개의 과정을 상세하게 제시하고자한다.

영문 초록

Since the Dow Corning's strong commercialized drive, the development of Science marks a quantum leap forward in the field of silicone rubber, which is very closely related in our daily lives, from the high technology to the human body's implant. And the art area, silicone rubber's flexibility & durability, its natural character, has made widely used in the production of art works, above all silicone rubber of the lost wax casting in the part of the fine jewelry is widely used. The introduction of the silicone rubber mold in the part fine jewelry contributes & represents to a great growth in the part of the fine jewelry. Before 1940, the style of production in the fine jewelry. handicraft is the main current but owing to the development of the silicone rubber, rubber mold could make a use of its specific character. In relation to that the high quality's wax pattern is mass-produced which means that fine jewelry's improvement in quality & mass production could be accomplished. Afterwards diverse silicone rubber are developed & evolved which has made a great contribution to the fine jewelry's constant productivity & high quality. Nevertheless, as you fully understood in nowadays, the knowledge in the silicone rubber mold of the fine jewelry is very narrow-minded or misunderstanding, so what we really need is to have a deeply concerned research. This study want to show the silicone rubber's systematic wrap-up for the part of metal craft, specially in the field of the fine jewelry, and its useful range & method. And then a required process in the jewelry casting would be descriptive of the technique in production of mold and the process in cutting which is made up silicone rubber.
