영문 초록

I studied the character of the compilation of the Abridged Version for Fair Governance(AVG) in early Josun dynasty in view of the intellectual history. At first, I surveyed the procedure of the compilation and analyzed its introductory remarks, contents and citing books. AVG comprized the wide period from the era of Spring and Autumn to Yin dynasty in China and the history of Koryo dynasty. AVG reflected the evolution of history, for example, the Comprehensive Mirror for Aid in Governance(資治通鑑), the Mirror of Tang Dynasty(唐鑑), the Reading History with Poor Intellect(讀史管見), the Abridged Essential of Comprehensive Mirror for Aid in Governance(資治通鑑綱目), since Neo-Confucianism developed in Sung dynasty which emphasized the Classic-History as the Essence-Change(經史體用) as a methodology of the self cultivation as well as academic discipline. In addition to this, King Sejong's plan for the national compilation projects made it possible to accomplish AVG. The Commentary of the Thinking Politic Palace, a three-years project to footnote two classical history books, the Comprehensive Mirror for Aid in Governance and the Abridged Essentialof Comprehensive Mirror for Aid in Governance, gave a good chance to the scholastic bureaucrats to understand the character of each history and to discipline the know-how of the compilation. Furthermore, the long argument on the issues around the Koryosa, the History of Koryo dynasty, also elaborated the knowledge of history. AVG's affect on the intellectual history of early Josun might be traced in two directions. First, after AVG was accomplished, King Sejong started to compile the valuable History of the Dynasty(國朝寶鑑) which could be referred at any time in comparison to the secretness of Annals. Some scholastic bureaucrats studied the sage-learning more deeply and made new text on it, the Abridged commentary on the Great-learning(大學衍義輯略). Second, after the literati governance was prevailed, many scholars seem to study AVG. I presented a case of Yi Hwang, one of the greatest scholar of Josun dynasty. Nevertheless there remain some tasks to overcome in comprehending AVG. This thesis is just a introductory one on AVG. We have to develope the methode of text critic and analysis the book of vast amount such as AVG.
