국문 초록

이 논문은 동유럽 지역의 한국학 연구의 현황을 살펴보고, 21세기 세계화 시대의 젊은 유럽(Young Europe)으로 부상하고 있는 동유럽 지역에서의 한국학이 어떤 모습으로 발전할 수 있는 가에 대해 생각해보고 한국외국어대학교에서 할 수 있는 일을 모색해보기 위한 목적에서 작성되었다. 동유럽 사회주의권이라는 일반적 지정학적 조건에서 시작되고 발전해온 한국학은 그 보급과 확대의 정도에 있어서 개별 국가에 따라 다르게 나타나는 데, 그 이유는 이와 같은 문화교류와 수용이 일방적 전달이 아니라 상호소통이라는 특징을 갖는 것이기 때문이다. 해당 지역 사람들의 한국학을 수용하려는 태도는 그 지역 또는 국가의 역사와 정체성 그리고 한국과의 역사적 경험과 관련이 된다. 따라서 해외 한국학의 연구는 해당 지역에 대한 전문적 지식과 이해가 뒷받침되어 문화적 상호소통과 교류로서 한국학이 가능하도록 다각적인 방안을 모색하는 것이어야 할 것이다. 이 논문에서는 세 가지 방안을 제안하였다; 1) 냉전시기의 동유럽 국가들에 산재해있는 한국학 자료들을 발굴, 수집하고 평가하는 작업, 2) 유럽 지역 한국학을 거점중심 연구로 전환하는 방안에 대한 연구, 3) 한국학의 보급과 확대를 위한 지역 문화원 설립을 위한 연구.

영문 초록

The purpose of this paper is to introduce the present situation of the Korean Studies in East European countries which are after the fall of Soviet dominance undergoing the radical transforming processes. It is worthy to think about the future of the Korean Studies in these Young European countries, and especially to explore how Hankuk University of Foreign Studies will support the efforts of the east european students in Korean studies. After the World War II the contemporary Korean Studies in East European Countries habe begun in the course of the political confrontation between the West and East for the most part as a subject of geopolitical and ideological area studies. But these originally political motivated projects had incited the various Interest in Korean history and culture in individual countries, which brought up also the divergence in the present stand of KoreanStudies. This is however nothing but surprising, because the foreign study is a kind of the cultural exchange and understanding which cannot be one-dimensional and unilateral. The academic interest in foreign culture and the readiness for its appreciation in general can be connected with cultural identity of it's own countries. So in this point the history and cultural identity of the concerned countries and especially the historical experiences with Korea play very important role. So I think, when we want to promote more systematically and efficiently the oversea Korean Studies, we ought to naturally stand by with more profound and intimate understanding with the concerned areas. By the consideration of these characteristics of the foreign studies I suggest for the promotion of the Korean studies in Eastern European three specified themes: a) systematic collection of information and data of the Korean Studies which are dispersed in Eastern European countries, and the survey of these materials, b) examination of the shifting focus and basis of Korean Studies in Europe from country to area, c) the study on founding the Korean Cultural Center in Eastern Europe.
