한국 말더듬 성인에 대한 고정관념 연구

국문 초록

본 연구는 일반인 집단(N = 103), 말더듬 성인 집단(N = 40) 및 학생 집단(N = 57)을 대상으로 25개 문항 검사를 실시하여 말더듬 성인에 대한 고정관념의 집단적 공통점과 차이점을 분석하는 것을 목적으로 하였다. 연구결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 일반 집단, 말더듬 집단 및 학생 집단 모두 말더듬 성인은 항상 긴장한 상태에 있다는 부정적인 고정관념을 공통적으로 갖고 있었다. 둘째, 일반 집단과 말더듬 집단을 비교한 결과, 일반 집단이 말더듬 성인에 대해 폐쇄적이고, 자기비하적이며 융통성이 없다는 더 부정적인 고정관념을 보였다. 그러나 일반 집단은 말더듬 성인에 대해 우둔하지 않으며 또한 감정이 풍부하다는 긍정적인 고정관념도 갖고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 마지막으로, 학생 집단과 말더듬 집단을 비교 한 결과, 학생 집단은 말더듬 성인에 대해 총명하며 또한 감정이 풍부하다는 더 긍정적인 고정관념을 보였다. 이러한 연구결과에 대한 임상적 시사점이 논의되었다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study was to investigate if stereotypes of the typical Korean adults who stutter exist and to find out their characteristics, if any . For this purpose, normal adult s (NA)(N=103), adult s who stutter (AWS )(N=40) and graduate student s who were studying speech - language pathology or special education (GS)(N=57) were asked to circle one of the seven intervals on each of the 25 items which show trait s which are used in order to describe stutterer s. T he findings were as follows : (1) all three groups hold an unfavorable stereotype that adult s who stutter are tense, (2) NA showed more negative stereotypes on self- derogatory - bragging, guarded- open, and inflexible- flexible items than AWS, but showed more positive stereotypes on dull- intelligent and bland- emotional items than AWS, and (3) GS showed more positive stereotypes on dull- intelligent and bland- emotional than AWS. Some clinical implication s of the finding s are discus sed.
