就利山會盟 前後 新羅의 對百濟 認識

국문 초록

백제 멸망 후 신라는 당 나라의 강요에 의해 백제와 熊嶺盟約(654)을 맺고, 그 이듬해 就利山 會盟(655)을 하게 되었다. 이 두 盟壇은 모두 지금의 공주에 위치하고 있었는데, 신라와 백제는 이를 새로운 경계로 삼았다. 당시 당 나라는 백제 故地를 기미주로 편성하여 영토화하려는 야욕으로 인하여 맹약을 강요한 것이었다. 그러나 당 나라의 이와 같은 계획은 신라가 백제 故地에서 당 나라를 驅逐함으로써 무산되었다. 이와 같은 취리산회맹을 전후하여 신라는 백제를 상당히 불신하는 입장이었다. 즉 신라는 백제가 간사하여 배반을 끊임없이 하는 집단이라 인식하고 있었다. 아울러 지배층은 사치와 음탕에 빠져있었다고 파악한다. 이러한 신라의 인식은 백제 침공과 장악의 명분 축적용이기도 하였다. 이러한 신라의 백제에 대한 인식은 결국 大耶城 전투(642)의 패배에 대한 아픈 기억의 치유와, 현실적으로 백제 고지에 대한 영토적 야욕을 갖고 있었던 당을 물리치기 위하여 반드시 필요한 조건이었다. 아울러 신라는 부흥을 꿈꾸는 백제의 잠재 역량을 고려하여, 통일 이후 祀典체계의 확립 과정에서 나름대로의 방법을 모색하는 등 백제인·백제 지역에 대한 통치와 융합에 많은 노력을 기울여야 했다.

영문 초록

The relationship between Baekje and Silla in the 7C was different from that of the late 6C ; it shows international aspects, involving Japan, Tang and Koguryo. Baekje once gained successful results from attacking Silla, but it had to be on the road to collapse in the end, due to the misjudgment of the situation made by King Ueija while in power. Silla’s advance to the East Sea side and its command of the southern sea side of Kaya in the 6C were directly related not only to taking marine resources but also to the guarantee of iron and salt, which were treated as strategic goods. In the same manner, it is logical to understand that Silla’s expansion of territory was resulted from the material and human necessity such as the increased demand of farmland and labor power. In the process of this, Kim Chunchu’s son-in-low, Kim Pumseok, and his wife were murdered in the fall of Daeya Fortress. Silla harbored strong enmity against Baekje since then. With the Mt. Chuiri League ahead, the Woongreyeong Convention was made in order to avoid forming a league with Baekje. This convention was Silla’s reaction to Tang's pressure. Nevertheless, after all, Silla formed the Mt. Chuiri League due to Tang’s pressure. The Woongreyeong Convention and the Mt. Chuiri League demarcated the frontier of Silla and Baekje by taking the place of each convention and league in present-Kongju as the border. Tang intended to organize the native place of Baekje as its subject state during this process. So it is obvious that both Silla and Baekje shank from forming the Mt. Chuiri League, and thus Silla carried out its own will by clearing the native place of Baekje of Tang power. Silla had no credit with Baekje about the time when the league was formed. Although it was to approve its raid on and seizure of Baekje justifiable to a certain extent, Silla actually thought Baekje very wicked, betraying others continually. Silla also believed that the ruling class of Baekje had indulged in luxury and pleasure. To Silla's ruling class, including the royal family, such perception was a necessary condition to recover from the defeat in the battle of Daeya Fortress 20 years ago and, practically, to drive away Tang which had territorial ambition toward the native place of Baekje.
