국문 초록

  가족이나 공동체 사회에서 인간이 가져할 가장 기본적인 요소는 사랑이다.
  더 나아가 인간의 성적인 욕망이나 갈등은 사회 구석구석 파고든 정치적 도덕적 정신적 부패와 피패함으로 인하여 인간의 가치 더할나위 없이 상품적 가치로 전락한지 오래된 것이 현실적 상황으로 이해가 된다. 이와같은 일련의 불행한 요소는 루카치가 말하는 “리이피케이션”의 개념으로 이해되어 질 수 있는데 이는 곧 자본주의의 바탕이 되는 주요한 이념적 물질적 가치가 이에 대한 책임이 있다는 것이 이야이 페스투스의 생각이다. 전체 경제 틀의 영역 안에서 개개인이 이와 관련되어있는 상품화라는 이면에는 이런 파편적 요소가 개입하여 개개인들을 사회의 구성원으로서 존재하는 것을 인정치 않고 단순히 기계의 부속품으로 이해하도록 만들었다는 점에서 이야이는 백성들이 이를 이해하기란 어렵다는 입장을 전해주고 있다. 이야이가 요구하는 주된 논지는 부르조와 사회에 개개인들은 사회에 동참하기를 원하는 욕망을 지니고 있지만 사실은 자본주의에 대한 수용이 궁극적으로 죽고 죽이는 상관관계를 지니고 있어서 이런 개개인의 욕망을 실현하는 것을 방해한다는 점을 지적한다.

영문 초록

  Love, concern for family or community, and sexual passion are all reduced to the level of a pure commodity exchange. Moreover, this entire familial triad strongly suggests the Lukacsian notion of reification, the idea that one of the principal effects of capitalism is to reduce all aspects of human life to the status of things. Largely a description of the reverse side of commodification (a term which focuses on the individual"s involvement in a comprehensive economic system), reification implies that this reduction of all aspects of human lives to discrete things leads to radically, fragmented individuals who can no longer understand how the various aspects of life fit into a coherent whole. What makes Iyayi"s critique even more striking is that his bourgeois characters desire some type of human interaction and want some sense of their places in society, but they are blind to the fact that their wholesale acceptance of the capitalist, dog-eat-dog ethos has made the fulfillment of these desires impossible.
