학기중 적용을 위한 강의진단 평가도구 개발과 타당성 분석

국문 초록

  최근 모든 대학에서 적용하고 있는 강의평가제도의 근본 목적은 교수의 수업효과를 측정하기 위함이다. 그러나 강의종료 후 시행되는 강의평가는 결과활용에 있어 극히 제한적이라는 점이 지적되고 있다. 강의평가결과가 실질적으로 수업개선을 위해 활용될 수 있도록 강의 중간시점에 시행되는 진단평가의 필요성이 부각되었다. 이 연구는 평가시기와 방법을 차별화한 진단평가도구를 개발하고 결과분석과 함께 도구의 타당성을 검증하고자 한다. 강의유형에 따라 세 가지 진단평가도구와 교수자와 학습자 자가진단도구를 개발하여 7개 과목 총 483명의 학생에게 시행하였다. 강의진단평가 결과 강의진행내용과 교수방법에 대한 다양한 정보와 학생들의 성취수준 및 수업태도와 관련된 정보가 구체적으로 나타났으며 어떤 과목 또는 어떤 교수가 어떻게 가르치고 있는지가 중요한 변수라는 것을 확인할 수 있었다. 진단도구의 타당도와 신뢰도는 양호하게 검증되었다. 특히 강의진단평가 경우, 문항 군에서 전공별 또는 수업유형별로 문항을 선택하도록 하는 것이 바람직하며 진단평가가 병행되는 경우 학기말 강의평가는 최소한의 문항으로 교수자와 강의에 대한 전반적 의견 그리고 학생의 성취수준과 태도 등을 간략하게 평가할 것을 제안하였다.

영문 초록

  An evaluation system of teaching is one of authentic assessment tools for improving the quality of higher education. The purpose of this study is to cultivate the course evaluation system based on midsemester student"s ratings of college teaching. The specific goals of the study are to develop five types of evaluation instruments for midsemester student"s ratings of instruction and to seek validity evidence from analyzing the evaluation results during the semester. The data used in this study were based upon 483 student"s evaluation responses of 7 courses offered in school of engineering at a university.
  The major results of this study are summarized as following: First, the results of midsemester students" ratings provide a valuable feedback for both instructors and students in order to improve the quality of instruction immediately. Second, there is a significant difference between means of small classes in major course and large classes in general course. Also, the evaluation results turned out significantly different according to different courses. Third, the reliabilities are quite good for every item by producing an index value from 0.93 to 0.95. The results of exploring validity construct confirmed the relationships among items to verify a theoretical background of those instruments.
  A special suggestion for improving the course evaluation system of university is not only to apply the midsemester students" ratings of teaching but to prepare a well-designed instruction for students explaining why and how to evaluate the course in order to get a reliable and valid results.
