국문 초록

  이 글은 동북아시아 경제에서의 동업자단체의 역할을 검토하는 것이다. 검토하는 기간은 1900-60년이다. 필자의 첫째 과제는 1945년 이전 한국, 일본, 대만경제에서의 동업자단체의 구체적인 역할을 보이는 것이다. 동업자 단체가 거의 모든 부문의 산업에서 존재했으며, 동업자단체가 정부의 경제운영에 협력했고, 그 업종의 교섭력을 높이기보다 증산과 품질개선에 노력했다. 둘째과제는 동업자단체가 정부의 산업개발 정책에 협력했던 일이 1945년 이전에 중국을 포함하는 동북아시아 전체의 공통된 현상이었음을 보이는 것이다. 경제를 운영하는 정부의 역량, 산업의 발달수준, 자신을 조직하는 생산자의 수준이 한국, 일본, 중국, 대만에서 모두 달랐지만, 그 현상은 공통적이었다. 셋째 과제는 동아시아의 개별국가의 1945년 이전과 이후의 연속성을 검토하는 일이다. 사회주의 혁명이 일어난 중국은 달랐지만 1945년 이후에도 한국, 일본, 대만의 경제운영에 동업자단체가 활용되었다.

영문 초록

  This article examines the role of trade associations in the Northeast Asian Countries such as Korea, China, Japan, and Taiwan during 1900-1960. The first topic is to show the details of the roles of trade associations in the Japanese empire. The trade associations existed in almost all industries; the associations cooperated with the government’s economic policies, and the associations made effort to increase output and improve the product quality instead of increasing bargaining power. The second topic is that trade associations’ roles above were a common feature of the whole Northeast Asian countries including China, even though the governments’ ability to manage the economy, the level of industrial development, and the ability to organize business were different in the countries. The third topic is to examine the continuity of Northeast Asian countries’ economic management before and after the Second World War. The roles of trade associations, established before the Second World War, were one of the institutional bases of Northeast Asian countries’ economic rehabilitation and rapid economic growth after the Second World War. China was the only exception, because it became a socialist country.
