원전연구와 고전 텍스트의 현대적 변용

국문 초록

  최근 역사사실과 고전문헌을 현대적 텍스트로 변용하는 문제가 지대한 관심사로 떠올랐다. 그런데 고전문헌을 현대적으로 변용하기 위해서는 문헌(혹은 비문헌) 자료들을 1차 가공하거나 2차 가공하는 일이 선행되거나 적어도 병행되어야 할 것이다. 1차 가공은 문헌정리(목록화, 표점, 색인, 전산화 등등)를 가리키고, 2차 가공은 주석과 번역을 뜻한다. 현재로서는 고전문헌(혹은 비문헌) 자료의 1차, 2차 가공이 반드시 만족스러운 상태가 아니다. 이에 따라 현대적 텍스트의 구축도 여러 가지 곤란을 겪고 있는 듯하다.   국학의 자료든 중국학의 자료든 한문 고전들 가운데는 아직까지 정본(正本)으로 확립되어 있지 못한 것들이 많다. 전문 연구자들이 나서서 정본을 만들고, 다시 그것을 대본으로 주석과 번역을 함으로써, 해당 분야의 연구를 심화시킬 뿐만 아니라, 인접 과학의 연구자들이나 일반 독자들이 한문고전의 현대적 의의를 재발견할 수 있도록 기본 자료로 제공하여야 할 것이다. 한편 한문고전을 번역할 때는 몇 가지의 기술적인 과제가 있다. (1) 전고(典故)의 확인, (2) 시문의 갈래별 특성 인식, (3) 시문 서술 형식의 이해, (4) 직역과 의역의 병행 등이 그것이다.   본고는 필자의 ？？한학연구입문？？(이회문화사, 2003), 제20장을 기초로, 한문 고전의 역주 현황과 1, 2차 가공의 기술적 문제에 대하여 살펴보았다. 또 한 필요에 따라 일본의 현황을 소개하였다.

영문 초록

  We are treating current modification of historical facts and classical books as a matter of grave concern lately. However, at least we have to precede or run parallel the first-modification and the second-modification of original texts(or non-texts) in order to modernization of classical text. The first-modification is arrangement of texts (cataloging, marking with punctuation mark, appending an index, computerization and so on) and the second-modification means translations with notes. I think that the present state of the first and second- modification of original texts(or non-texts) are still below the gratifying level. Therefore, we are having difficulty in the accumulation of a modern editions.   We haven"t fixed the formal text of most of Chinese classical text in koreanology and sinology yet. We specialists in classical Chinese have to fix the formal text, then translate and append notes to that. And through this works, we can deepen our fields of study. In addition, we have to furnish these texts as fundamental data in order that either specialists of adjacent field or general readership may rediscover current significance of classical text. Meanwhile, translation of classical text is requested several technical methods. It is as follows: to confirm authentic precedents, to recognize a feature of poetry and prose by a genre, to understand a form of narration of poetry and prose, to use jointly a literal translation and liberal translation.   In this paper, I used chapter 20 in my book Introduction to the study of Korea and Chinese classics written in classical Chinese (published by Ihoe-Munhwa-sa, 2003) as fundamental materials. I dealt with the present position of translation with notes and the technical method of the first and second-modification, and introduce the present position of Japan as occasion demands.
