사회자본과 경제성장 : 중첩세대 R&D모델을 중심으로

국문 초록

사회자본은 공공재의 성격을 지니므로 정(正)의 외부효과를 야기한다. 왜냐하면 경제주체들이 자신 및 공동의 목적을 위해 사회자본을 통해서 다른 경제주체들의 지식, 능력 그리고 사회네트워크를 이용하고 동원할 수 있기 때문이다. 또한 사회쟈본의 이용자의 수와 이용횟수가 늘어날수록 사회구성원들의 효용은 증가하게 된다. 이러한 사회자본의 외부효과를 고려한다면 물적자본, 지식자본 그리고 사회자본 사이에 형성되는 보완관계를 발견할 수 있다. 따라서 OLC(중첩세대) R&D모델에서 효율성 파라메터 a_t는 더욱 상세히 설명될 수 있다. 사회자본과 경제성장의 관계에 대한 실증분석을 위해 Y_t = RD^a_t*K^b_t*L^c-t*SK^d_t 라는 생산함수를 설정하여 종속변수인 총산출량 Y_t에 "실질 GDP"을 독립변수들인 지식스톡 RD_t에 "일인당 연구개발비" 물적자본 K_t에 "gross fixed capital formatlon (GFCF)", 고용 L_t에 "total employment"을 그리고 사회자본 SK-t에는 "사회자본계정"의 데이터를 대입하였다. 이상의 데이터를 사용하여 실행한 횡단면 분석의 결과는 사회자본과 경제성장 사이에 정(正)의 관계가 존재함을 보여주었다.

영문 초록

Social capital can cause a positive externality because of his characteristic as a public good. On the basis of his/her social capital, an economic subject can utilize and mobilize knowledge, capabilities and social networks of other people to achieve individual or group goals. In addition utility of society as a whole increases in direct correlation with the number of users and uses of the social capital. Due to the complementary relationship between knowledge capital, real capital, and social capital, the endogenous growth process of the efficiency parameter a_t of the R&D model can be more precisely described. In the the regression analysis of the relationship between social capital and economic growth, the production function Y_t = RD^a_t*K^b_t*L^c-t*SK^d_t is used as a point of departure. In this production function, output Y_t is measured by "GDP real", the stock of knowledge RD_t by "expenditure for R&D per capita", physical capitai K_t by "gross fixed capital formation (GFCF)", labor L_t by "total employment", and social capital SK_t by relevant data of the "Social Capital Account". The results of the present empirical study show a positive relationship between social capital and economic growth.
