국문 초록

본 논문은 금융서비스가 국경을 넘어서 거래되는 경우에 대해 연구한다. 정보통신기술의 발달로 금융의 글로벌화가 촉진되면서 국경을 넘어서는 금융서비스 거래도 예전과는 다른 형태로변하고 있다. 본 논문에서는 금융서비스 거래가 인터넷 등을 통해 국경을 넘어서면서 이루어지는 경우를 협의의 국경간 금융서비스 거래로 정의하고, 이러한 거래의 발생 가능성을 이론적 측면에서 고찰한다. 정보통신기술의 발달로 금융의 정보화가 이루어지면서 금융산업 비용구조가 변화하였다. 외부 규모의 경제가 이루어지면서 나타나는 각국의 금융산업 비용구조 변화는 국경간 금융서비스 거래의 발생과 거래 방향을 설명한다. 상대적으로 더 높은 비용절감 효과를 갖는 국가가 국경간 금융서비스를 제공하는 국가가 된다. 그러나, 국경간 금융서비스 거래 감독에 대한 국가간 일체화가 이루어지지 않은 상태에서는 외부 규모의 경제에 따른 비용절감 효과에도 불구하고 거래가 발생하지 않을 가능성이 있다.

영문 초록

Financial globalization caused by the development of information technology changes the method of financial transactions. The more unnecessary are physical presences of financial firms, the more they focus on to the virtual channels. This environment makes a similar influence on cross-border transactions of financial services. They become to need not as many of branches or subsidianes as they were to supply financial services to the customer in the other country. This paper studies the environmental change in the cross-border financial service transaction. First it redefines the meaning of 'cross-border' as the case in which financial services are traded across borders on an on-line network such as the internet contrasting with the conventional meaning, then examines the possibility of its transaction in a theoretical perspective. The development of information technology makes the cost structure of financial industry more efficient through the economy of scale. The difference of the cost structure between countries would indicate the direction of the trade pattern. However, what this' paper emphasizes is that institutional matters such as financial supervision could give rise to an unusual pattern of trade. Without the convergence of the levels of financial supervision among countries the cost reduction would not be reflected on the trade pattern.
