고등학생의 수학 과외가 학업성취도, 태도, 자기조절학습에 미치는 영향

국문 초록

이 연구에서는 고등학생들의 수학 교과에 대한 과외가 수학 학업성취도, 수학에 대한 과외가 수학 학업성취도, 수학에 대한 태도, 자기조절학습에 미치는 영향을 경험적으로 분석하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 서울 소재 1개 고등학교의 2004년 신입생 전체를 대상으로 2003년 12월부터 2004년 10월까지 3차례에 걸쳐 수학 과외 경험, 수학 학업성취도, 수학 교과에 대한 태도, 자기조절학습 수준을 측정하였다. 연구결과 수학 학업성취도는 수학 과외 경험 정도와 상당한 관련성이 있음이 확인되었다. 즉 과외 경험이 많은 집단일수록 학생들의 사전성취도가 높았으며(지속적 과외 집단 > 간헐적 과외집단 > 비과외 집단), 이러한 차이는 연구를 수행한 전 기간 동안(고등학교 1학년 1학기 초부터 2학기 중반까지) 큰 변화 없이 그대로 유지되었다. 또한 수학 과외를 받는 학생들(지속적 과외 집단 및 간헐적 과외 집단)이 수학 과외를 받지 않는 학생들(비과외 집단)에 비해 교과에 대한 태도가 더 긍정적이었으며, 자기조절학습 수준도 더 높았다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to examine the effects of private tutoring on high schoo. student's learning, especially on their achievement in machematics, attitudes toward mathematics, and self-regulated learning. The subjects of this study were first grade students at a high school in Seoul (N=350). Their achievement in mathematics, attitudes toward mathematics, and self-regulated learning were measured three times in March, June, and October, 2004. For data analysis, the students were divided into three groups according to the private tutoring experience for mathematics : the continuous privatd totoring group (138 students, 39.5%), the intermittent private tutoring group (151 students, 43.1%), and the none-experience group(61 students, 17.4%) This research showed that there were significant effects of private tutoring on highschool students' learing. In other words, the more students engaged in private tutoring for mathematics, the better they achieved in mathematics. Also the more students engaged in private tutoring for mathematics, the more afformative attitudes toward mathematics they got. In addition, the more students engaged in private tutoring for mathematics, the better self-regulated learning they did.
