국문 초록

Purpose: This study aimed to confirm the effects of transition shock during clinical practice and the academic achieve- ment of nursing students on their adaptation to university life. Methods: A descriptive survey design was used. The participants were 168 nursing students who had at least one clinical practice experience and participated voluntarily. Data were collected from May 9 to 14, 2024, through an online questionnaire with 69 questions and analyzed using the IBM SPSS Statistics program for frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, the independent t-test, one-way ANOVA, Pearson’s correlation, and the Scheffé test. Results: The average scores for transition shock, academic achievement, and adaptation to university life were 2.53±0.73, 3.35±0.64, and 3.56±0.66, respectively. Transition shock had a significant negative correlation with adaptation to university life, while academic achievement had a significant positive correlation. Major satisfaction, transition shock, and academic achievement were significant factors affecting the adaptation to university life and explained 54.2% of the variance. Conclusion: To improve the adaptation of nursing students to university life, it is essential to reduce transition shock and enhance academic achievement. Educational guidelines and simulation activities are needed to bridge the gap between theory and practice. Future research should consider differences by age, gender, and region, to develop and apply various adaptation programs, and conduct follow-up studies.
