생성형 AI를 활용한 교육과정 실행 경험에 대한 질적 사례 연구

국문 초록

이 연구에서는 생성형 AI를 활용한 네 교사의 교육과정 실행 경험을 대상으로 질적 사례 연구를 수행함으로써 생성형 AI의 교육적 활용 가능성과 한계를 탐색하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 생성형 AI를 통합한 교육과정의 실행 경험을 심층적으로 이해하고, 학습자의 학습 결과 및 반응을 분석하여 생성 형 AI 활용이 교육 현장에 미치는 영향을 평가한 뒤, 생성형 AI의 교육적 활용을 위한 시사점을 논의하였다. 이 연구에서는 참여 관찰, 심층 인터뷰, 문서 분석 등의 방법을 통하여 연구 자료를 수집하였다. 연구의 범위는 다양한 학습 환경에서 생성형 AI를 활용한 네 교사의 교육과정 실행 경험에 초점을 두며 이들의 경험과 학습자의 반응을 통해 생성형 AI의 잠재력과 한계를 종합적으로 분석하였다. 연구 결과 생성형 AI의 교육적 활용 가능성과 한계가 비교적 명료하게 나타났다. 생성형 AI는 학생의 창의적 표현력 증진, 개별화 및 맞춤형 학습 경험 제공, 교육 자원에 대한 접근성 향상 등의 잠재적 이점을 제공하였다. 이러한 이점들은 학생이 개별적으로 자신의 학습 스타일과 속도에 부합하는 교육을 경험하게 함으로써 학생의 교육과정 경험의 질을 높일 새로운 기회를 마련해주었다. 이와 동시에 기술적 제약, 교사와의 상호작용 감소, 기술적 의존도 증가에 따른 표현의 제약, 깊이 있는 학습의 제한, 학습 동기 감소 등의 한계도 존재하였다. 이러한 한계는 교사가 의도한 교육 활동의 추진과 목표 달성을 방해하고 학생이 학습의 과정에 온전히 몰입하여 성장할 기회를 제한하였다. 이상의 연구 결과를 바탕으로 첫째, 생성형 AI를 활용하는 교육에서도 교육과정을 설계하고 실행하는 주체로서 교사의 역할이 여전히 중요하며, 둘째, 생성형 AI를 활용하는 교육에서 생성형 AI는 학생의 온전한 배움과 성장을 지원하기 위한 수단을 명심해야 한다는 점을 논의하였다.

영문 초록

This study conducted a qualitative case study on the experiences of four teachers using generative AI in their educational practices to explore the potential and limitations of its use in education. The research aimed to deeply understand the integration of generative AI in educational curricula and to analyze the outcomes and responses of learners to assess the impact of generative AI in educational settings. It then discusses implications for the educational use of generative AI. The study employed participant observation, in-depth interviews, and document analysis to collect data. The findings clearly reveal both the potential and limitations of using generative AI in education. Generative AI was found to provide benefits, such as enhancing students’ creative expression, offering individualized and customized learning experiences, and improving access to educational resources. These advantages created new opportunities to enhance the quality of students’ educational experiences, aligning with their individual learning styles and paces. However, there were also significant limitations, including technical constraints, reduced teacher―student interaction, increased dependence on technology leading to constraints in expression, limited depth of learning, and decreased motivation. These limitations hindered the effective implementation of educational activities and restricted students’ opportunities for full engagement and growth in the learning process. Based on these results, the study emphasizes the crucial role of teachers as the primary designers and implementers of the curriculum in education that utilizes generative AI and underscored that generative AI should be viewed as a tool to support comprehensive learning and growth of students.
