장애 아동ㆍ청소년 미술치료에서 미술치료사의 어려움에 관한 현상학적 연구

국문 초록

본 연구는 장애 아동․청소년과의 미술치료에서 미술치료사가 경험하는 어려움에 대해 생생하게 듣고, 그 의미를 이해하고자 하였다. 연구 참여자는 경력 10년 이상의 미술치료사들이며, 자료의 수집은 개인의 심층 인터뷰를 통해 이루어졌다. 자료의 분석은 Giorgi의 질적 분석 방법의 단계에 따라 실시하였고 298개의 의미 단위와 28개의 하위구성요소, 8개의 상위구성요소로 도출되었다. 참여자들이 장애가 있는 내담자와 겪는 어려움의 본질적 의미는 ‘소통의 단절을 느낌’, ‘장애로 인한 통제 불능의 문제들’, ‘이론보다 훨씬 다양하고 복잡한 문제들’, ‘장애 내담자의 생소한 저항을 마주함’, ‘장애 자녀 부모와의 어려운 동행’, ‘전문성을 인정받지 못하는 미술치료 현장’, ‘미술 매체 사용에서 한계성을 느낌’, ‘특수교육과 미술치료의 경계에서 정체성의 혼란’으로 나타났다. 본 연구는 장애 아동․청소년과의 치료 현장에서 미술치료사가 겪는 어려움, 갈등, 고민의 경험을 탐색함으로써 그 본질의 의미를 알 수 있었다. 이러한 결과를 바탕으로 본 연구가 갖는 의의와 제한점, 향후 연구의 방향을 논의하였다.

영문 초록

This study aimed to examine the difficulties experienced by art therapists in their art therapy sessions with children and adolescents with disabilities vividly and understand their meanings. The research participants included art therapists with ten years experience or more. Data was collected from their in-depth interviews and analyzed in the steps of Giorgi's qualitative analysis method. The analysis results identified 298 semantic units, 28 lower-level components, and eight higher-level components. The essential meanings of the difficulties with their clients were ‘feeling communication breakdown’, ‘facing issues of lost control due to disabilities’, ‘even more diverse and complicated issues than theories’, ‘encountering with strange resistance from them’, ‘having difficulties with going with their parents’, ‘not being recognized as an expertise in the field of art therapy’, ‘feeling limitations with the use of art media’ and ‘having identity confusion at the boundary of special education and art therapy’. Through investigating the difficulties, conflicts, and worries experienced by art therapists in their therapeutic field with children and adolescents with disabilities the study revealed their essential meanings. Based on these findings, the study discussed its significance, limitations, and future research directions.
