정신장애인의 지역사회 적응을 위한 지원프로그램 효과

국문 초록

본 연구는 정신장애인을 대상으로 실시된 지역사회 적응지원을 위한 자립생활 지원 프로그램의 효과를 실증적으로 검증하기 위한 목적으로 이루어졌다. 효과측정을 위해 정신장애 당사자가 프로그램 참여 전과 후의 자립생활능력과 지원체계 정도를 실증적으로 측정하여 비교하였다. 거주유형, 주거유형, 취업유형에 따른 자립생활능력 평균비교 결과, 당사자 동료와 함께 거주(4.02)하거나 자립하여 혼자 거주하는 경우(3.74) 부모와 함께 사는 당사자에 비해 자립생활능력이 높게 나타났으며, 월 임대료가 발생하는 월세와 매매임대의 경우 자가에 비해 자립생활능력이 높게 나타났다. 또한, 취업을 한 당사자가 그렇지 않은 당사자에 비해 자립생활능력이 높게 나타났다. 다음으로 프로그램 참여 효과를 사전사후 검증을 통해 확인한 결과, 자립생활능력의 경우 프로그램 참여 후 자립생활능력 평균이 0.14점 높아졌으며, 통계적인 유의미성이 검증되어 정신장애인의 지역사회 적응을 높이기 위해 실시한 지원프로그램은 자립생활능력을 높이는 데 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 반면, 지원체계의 경우 일상생활에서 타인의 도움필요 정도와 공식적 자원을 지원받은 경험이 있는 경우 프로그램 참여 후 평균이 높아졌으나, 통계적인 유의미성은 확보되지 않았다. 이를 통한 제언은 첫째 정신장애인의 자기결정과 역량강화를 위한 프로그램 개발과 보급, 둘째 지역사회 내 공식적·비공식적 지지체계 확대, 자립을 준비하고 시작하는 단계에서 동료지원서비스 연계, 넷째 주거지원, 마지막으로 사회적 경제분야의 정신장애인 자립모델 개발을 제시하였다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study was to empirically verify the effectiveness of an independent living support program for people with mental disabilities to help them adapt to the community. To measure the effectiveness, we empirically measured and compared the level of independent living ability and support system of people with mental disabilities before and after participating in the program. The results of the average comparison of independent living ability by type of residence, type of housing, and type of employment showed that those who lived with their peers (4.02) or lived independently (3.74) had higher independent living ability than those who lived with their parents; those who rented or bought a house with monthly rental fee had higher independent living ability than those who lived at home; and those who were employed had higher independent living ability than those who were not employed. Next, the effect of participating in the program was checked through pre- and post-test, and in the case of independent living ability, the average independent living ability was 0.14 points higher after participating in the program, and the statistical significance was verified, indicating that the support program conducted to increase the community adaptation of people with mental disabilities has a positive effect on increasing independent living ability. On the other hand, for support system, the mean of needing help from others in daily life and having received support from formal resources increased after participation in the program, but statistical significance was not found. The recommendations are to first develop and disseminate programs for self-determination and empowerment of people with mental disabilities, second, expand formal and informal support systems in the community, third, link peer support services at the stage of preparing for and starting independence, fourth, provide residential support, and finally, develop a model of independence for people with mental disabilities in the social economy.
