국문 초록

본 연구는 유치원 실외공간에 대한 유아교사의 감정 및 정서를 토대로 실외공간에 대한 장소감을 고찰하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 D시에 소재한 공 사립 유치원 교사 12인을 대상으로 정서적-심상지도 그리기와 면담을 실시하였다. 이에 대한 연구결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째는 실외공간의 ‘광활함’에서 느끼는 해방감이 주는 즐거움, 자연과의 교감을 통해 얻는 만족감과 행복감이다. 둘째는 ‘쉼’이 이루어지는 휴식과 정적인 활동의 ‘더함’에서 오는 평화로움이다. 셋째는 안전하게 돌보아야 한다는 책임감이 주는 염려스러움으로 드러났다. 이러한 유치원 실외공간에 대한 유아교사의 장소감을 통해 실외공간은 자유로운 움직임이 허락된 자유와 해방의 공간이며, 우연한 만남과 접속에 의한 배움의 장이며, 관계를 통해 친밀감이 형성되도록하는 실외공간으로서 고찰될 수 있었으나 교사들이 유아의 시점으로만 실외공간을 바라보는 것에 대한 재고의 여지가 남아 있음을 논의하였다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to examine the sense of place for kindergarten outdoor space based on the feelings and emotions of the early childhood teachers. For this purpose 12 kindergarten teachers from public and private kindergartens located in D city were selected as participants. They were asked to create an emotional-mental map and underwent in-depth interviews. The findings of this study are as follows. Firstly enjoyment derived from the sense of liberation experienced in the ‘spaciousness’ of outdoor spaces, the satisfaction and happiness obtained through communion with the nature were recognized. Secondly, peace and calm in outdoor space comes from ‘rest’ and ‘enrichment’ of static activities. Thirdly concerns in the outdoor space stemming from the responsibility of ensuring safety were identified. Through the sense of place of kindergarten teachers, outdoor spaces are perceived as a place of freedom and liberation where unrestricted movement is allowed, a space for learning through chance encounters and connections, and a space where intimacy is formed through relationships. However, there is a need for further discussion regarding the limitations of teachers solely viewing outdoor spaces from the perspective of young children.
