초등학교 저학년 다문화가정 아동의 쓰기 발달 특성 분석

국문 초록

본 연구의 목적은 학령기 다문화가정 아동의 쓰기 과제에 나타나는 언어의 형식적 측면에서의 발달 특성을 파악하는 것이다. 본 연구를 위하여 언어발달지연이 호소되지 않은 다문화가정 아동 25명, 비다문화가정 아동 25에 대한 수용표현어휘력검사 및 문장완성검사를 실시하고, 이들 중에서 표현어휘력이 -1 SD 이상인 다문화가정 아동 16명과 비다문화가정 아동 24명에 대한 쓰기 과제 데이터를 분석하였다. 쓰기 과제의 분석 변인으로는 맞춤법 요소인 띄어쓰기와 철자 오류율, 형태론적 분석요소인 조사와 어미 오류율, 통사론적 분석 요소인 C-unit의 평균낱말길이(MLC-w)와 내포절 사용 빈도를 분석하였다. 연구 결과 띄어쓰기 오류율, 철자 오류율, 어미 활용 오류율, MLC-w는 다문화가정 아동이 비다문화가정 아동에 비해 유의하게 낮은 수행률을 보였으나 조사 오류와 내포절 사용 빈도에 있어서는 두 집단이 유의한 차이를 보이지 않았다. 국내 다문화 환경에서 자라는 아동들이 언어가 다른 부모로부터 이중언어를 획득하는 것이 아니라, 오히려 단일언어 환경에서 자라나는 아동에 비해서도 쓰기 발달에서 지연되는 경향을 보인다는 본 연구의 결과는 다문화가정 아동의 조기 언어지도를 위한 지원의 필요성을 시사한다.

영문 초록

The purposes of this study is to seize the characteristics of writing development, especially three formal components(orthography, morphology, and syntax) of school-aged children from multicultural families. For the study, written language samples have collected through a sentence completion writing test for 25 children from multicultural families, and for 25 children from non-multicultural families. Excluding children whose expressive lexical ability are above -1 SD among these 50 children, the data of 16 multicultural children and 24 non-multicultural children are analyzed for this study. The two groups are firstly compared in orthographic features such as spacing errors and spelling errors, secondly in morphological features such as the particle errors and the ending errors, and thirdly in syntactic features such as the MLC-w and the frequency of 4 types of embedded clauses. The orthographic error rate, the ending error rate, and the MLC-w were significantly higher in the group of children from multicultural families than the other. However, the particle error rate and the frequency of embedded clauses were not significantly different in the two groups. These results implicate that it is necessary to support early school-aged children from multicultural families for developing their writing skill.
