영문 초록

The purpose of this thesis is to investigate the relationship between longevity and lineage law in Western Zhou bronze inscriptions. The Western Zhou bronze inscriptions has abundant information on longevity and lineage law. This paper considered that longevity and lineage law are closely related. The meaning of longevity in the bronze inscriptions can be accurately explained when considering the context of the lineage law, and the lineage law can be illuminated from a new perspective when the factor of longevity is in mind. Longevity is a blessing that descendants receive from their ancestors when they hold ancestral sacrifices. The lineage law is a system that regulates the relationship between descendants and ancestors and establishes the order of ancestral sacrifices. Longevity can be obtained when the order of lineage law is properly observed. Longevity is an essential factor constituting the lineage law system.
