국문 초록

본 연구에서는 기원전 650년경 제작된 것으로 추정되는 니느웨의 점토판 설형문자 문서인 벌레의 전설 또는 치아 주술 문서를 이사야 14:12-14에 나타나는 하늘에서의 반란 모티프와 비교하였다. 각 기호들이 보이지 않는 “컬럼”내에 정확한 배열 라인으로 배치되어 있고 기호들 사이에 빈 공간이 있는 점 등은 이 문서가 정확한 리듬을 표시한 합창 지휘자의 노트 등의 기능을 가졌을 가능성을 시사한다. 흙에서 유래한 벌레의 창조는 창세기 1-2장의 인간의 창조와 비교되며, 벌레가 파괴적이며 “올라가려” 했던 묘사는 하늘에서 하나님의 보좌에 오르려 했던 루스벨의 반란과 유사점을 드러내는데, 이 벌레에게도 심판이 뒤따랐다. 이는 기원전 723년 이후 니느웨에 거주했던 히브리인들의 영향을 시사한다.

영문 초록

This study compares the Legend of the Worm or the Tooth-Incantation Text, a cuneiform document on a clay tablet from Nineveh, dating around 650 BC, with the rebellion in heaven motif in Isaiah 14:12-14. The fact that each sign is arranged in precise lines of alignment within invisible “columns” and that there are open spaces between the signs suggest that this document may have had the function of a choir conductor's note indicating the correct rhythm. The worm's creation from the mud is compared to the human creation in Genesis 1-2. The description of the worm to be destructive and that it tried to 'ascend' show parallels to Lucifer's rebellion in heaven to usurp the throne of God. Judgment followed here too. This text suggests the influence of the Hebrews’ presence in Nineveh since 723 BC.
