국문 초록

본 연구는 유아가 자연에서 경험하는 스마트기기 활용 과학적 탐구의 의미를 이해하는 것을 목적으로 한다. S유치원 5세 유아 중 자연에서의 스마트기기 활용 탐구에 관심을 보인 11명을 연구참여자로 하여 2021년 4월부터 9월까지 바깥놀이, 자유놀이, 이야기나누기 시간에 과학적 탐구과정을 있는 그대로 살펴보고자 하였다. 참여관찰이 주된 방법이었고 추가적으로 심층면담, 저널, 유아 작품 등의 자료를 수집한 뒤, 연구자가 반복적으로 읽으면서 범주 및 재범주화 하는 순환적 과정을 거쳐 분석하였다. 연구 결과 유아가 자연에서 경험하는 스마트기기 활용 과학적 탐구의 의미는 첫째, 자연과 가상공간에서 다양한 감각을 활용한 탐색, 둘째, 시공간의 연계 속에서 이어지는 관심, 셋째, 호기심과 외적 자극의 교차 지점에서 생각의 이어짐, 넷째, 새로운 의사소통 방식을 활용한 지식의 확장으로 나타났다. 이러한 결과는 유아교육기관에서 유아들이 자연과 스마트기기를 자유롭게 넘나들면서 다양한 의사소통 방식으로 호기심을 이어갈 수 있는 환경과 여건을 제공할 필요가 있음을 시사한다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to understand the meaning of scientific inquiry using smart devices that young children experience in nature. Among the 5-year-old young children of S kindergarten, 11 children who showed interest in scientific inquiry using smart devices in nature were participated in the study, and the scientific inquiry process was examined as it is in outdoor play, free play, and storytelling from April to September 2021. Participant observation was the main method, and data such as in-depth interviews, journals, and the works of young children were collected, and then analyzed through a cyclical process of categorizing and re-categorizing. As the results of the study, the meaning of scientific inquiry of young children is first, exploration using various senses in nature and virtual space. Second, scientific inquiry is an interest that continues in the connection of space and time. Third, scientific inquiry is the continuation of thought at the intersection of curiosity and external stimulation. Fourth, scientific inquiry is the expansion of knowledge through a new communication method. These results suggest that young children education institutions need to provide an environment and conditions so that children can continue their curiosity in various communication methods while freely crossing nature and smart devices.
