유아교사의 문화역량과 유아 문화예술교육에 대한 인식 및 실행

국문 초록

본 연구는 부산시 16개구군의 유치원 및 어린이집 유아교사 434명을 할당표집과 임의표집을 통해 모집하여 문화역량, 개인적 예술경험, 유아 문화예술교육에 대한 인식과 실행, 방과후과정 운영에 대한 인식에 대해 알아보았다. 연구결과 첫째, 유아교사의 문화역량은 약간 높은 수준이었고, 교사의 연령이 높을수록 문화역량 수준은 낮았다. 문화역량 수준이 높을수록 유아교사들은 유아 문화예술교육이 중요하다고 인식하였고, 개인적 차원의 역량 수준이 높을수록 문화예술교육 실행 정도가 높은 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 미술과 음악은 유아교사들이 개인적으로 경험도 많이 하고 유아교사들에 의한 교육과정과 외부 강사에 의한 방과후과정에서 많이 실행되고 있는 반면, 동작·무용과 전통예술은 유아교사의 개인적 경험도 낮을 뿐 아니라 유아 문화예술교육에서도 많이 실행되고 있지 않았다. 셋째, 유아 문화예술교육의 중요성에 대한 인식, 실행정도 및 원활성은 모두 보통 이상의 수준이었다. 넷째, 유아교사들은 문화예술 분야에서의 전문성 부족으로 교육 실행에 어려움을 느끼며 문화예술전문 인력과의 협력을 통해 교육이 실행되기를 원하고 있었다. 다섯째, 문화예술교육 실행 시 유아의 흥미와 발달적합성, 교육과정과의 연계를 가장 많이 고려하고 있었다. 종합적으로 유아 문화예술교육 활성화를 위해 유아교사 문화역량의 증진, 그리고 유아교사의 전문성 향상을 위한 예술전문가와의 다양한 상호협력 방안 모색에 관심을 기울일 필요가 있음을 제안하였다.

영문 초록

This study aimed at 434 early childhood teachers at kindergartens and daycare centers in Busan to evaluate their cultural competency, personal art experience, awareness and practice of early childhood culture and arts education, awareness of after-school curriculum management. As results of this study, first, the cultural competency level of early childhood teachers was slightly higher, and the older the teacher s age, the lower the cultural competency level. The higher the level of cultural competency, the more important the early childhood teachers perception of culture and arts education was. Second, early childhood teachers have a lot of personal experience in art and music, and they are often practiced in educational courses by early childhood teachers and after-school courses by external instructors, whereas movement and dance and traditional arts only have low personal experience of early childhood teachers. Third, the recognition of the importance of early childhood culture and arts education, the degree of practice and smoothness of practice were all above average. Fourth, teachers believed that early childhood culture and arts education should be done through cooperation with culture and arts specialists. Fifth, when implementing arts and culture education, children’s interest, developmental suitability, and connection with the curriculum were considered the most. It was suggested that, in order to revitalize early childhood culture and arts education, we need to focus on enhancing teachers’ cultural competency and on seeking various ways of cooperation between early childhood teachers and art experts for the purpose of teachers professionalism.
