영어학습부진아 지도를 위한 온라인 플랫폼 활용

국문 초록

초·중등학교현장에서 교육격차를 해소하기 위해 예비교사가 학습부진아를 지도할 수 있도록 서원대학교 영어교육과는 2017학년도부터 ‘영어학습부진아 이해와 지도’라는 과목을 개설하고 있다. 예비교사는 ‘영어학습부진아 이해’ 단계에서 온라인 플랫폼 클래스카드로 실습을 하고 자료를 제작한 후, ‘영어학습부진아 지도’ 단계에서 클래스카드 자료를 활용하여 중학생을 멘토링하고 ‘영어학습부진아 지도 성찰’ 단계에서 클래스카드 활용의 유용성과 어려움에 대해 최종 보고서를 작성하였다. 수집된 자료를 분석한 결과, 예비교사들은 클래스카드가 학습자 흥미 유발, 복습과 과제 등에 유용한 것으로 판단하였으나, 다양한 기능을 배우기가 어렵고 학습자 수준을 모른 채 자료를 제작하는 것에 어려움을 느끼고 있었다. 이런 연구결과에 따라 본 연구는 예비교사를 양성하는 교수자에게 사용료, 기능 및 인터페이스 등을 고려하여 적절한 온라인 플랫폼을 선정하여 충분한 실습기회를 가질 것을 논의하였다.

영문 초록

In order to narrow the educational gap in English(EFL), the Department of English Education at Seowon University has opened a course of Understanding and Teaching of Underachieving English Language Learners since 2017 so that pre-service English language teachers can be prepared to teach ELLs with low achievement before they are assigned to secondary schools. Pre-service teachers produced materials with the online platform Classcard in the Understanding’ stage, then used the Classcard materials in the Teaching stage to tutor middle school ELL students. Lastly, they wrote reflective journals regarding the usefulness and difficulty of utilizing the Classcard in ‘Reflection’ stage. As a result of analyzing the collected data, pre-service teachers reported that the Classcard was useful for maintaining learner interest, reviewing and managing assignments, but they felt it was difficult to be familiar with various functions and to prepare materials without knowing their ELL learner s English level. Based on the findings, this study discussed the need to choose an appropriate online platform in consideration of monthly fees, functions and interfaces, and to have sufficient practice opportunities for pre-service teachers.
