명상 학습 경험과 명상 수행 경험에 따른 예비유아교사의 명상 교육에 대한 인식 연구

국문 초록

본 연구는 예비유아교사의 명상 학습과 명상 수행 유무에 따른 명상 교육에 대한 인식의 차이를 알아보는데 목적이 있다. 연구 대상은 서울, 경기, 강원, 경상도에 소재한 대학에 재학 중인 유아교육 관련 학과 학생 224명이다. 예비유아교사를 위한 명상 교육 인식 설문지를 개발하였고, 수집된 자료는 빈도, 백분율, 카이검증을 실시하여 분석하였다. 연구 결과, 명상 교육에 대한 예비유아교사의 인식은 명상 학습 유무와 명상 수행 유무에 따라 차이가 나타났다. 특히, 명상 학습 유무에 따라 명상의 종류, 연계 교육, 교육 목적, 필요성, 어려움, 활동 시간, 참고자료 선정에 대한 인식에 있어서 차이가 나타났고, 명상 수행 유무에 따라 명상 교육 연계 활동, 목적, 필요성에 대한 인식에서 차이가 나타났다. 예비유아교사의 신념과 가치관이 교육 실제에서 중요한 역할을 하므로 예비유아교사의 인식 확장을 위해 이론학습과 명상수행을 포함한 명상 교육 프로그램이 개발되어야 할 것이다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study was to survey the perceptions of pre-service early childhood educators toward contemplative education and the factors contributing to their perceptions. A total of 224 pre-service teachers majoring early childhood education or child development and education in four cities in South Korea participated. A survey questionnaire was developed to investigate pre-service teachers’ perceptions of contemplative education, and the data collected was analyzed with the frequency test and a chi-square test using a SPSS 19.0 program. Results indicate that pre-service teachers consider contemplative education to be necessary in early childhood education, but their perceptions of contemplative education differ in terms of types of meditation, meditation-integrative education, educational purposes, reasons to teaching contemplative education, challenges, and reference selection. These differences depend on pre-service teachers’ learning experiences of meditation and/or their practices of it. This research shows that pre-service teacher programs about contemplative education should play an important role in their incorporation of meditation in their classrooms when they become in-service teachers. According to the results, appropriate contemplative education programs for pre-service teachers need to be developed to broaden their perceptions on contemplative education. This research will provide basic information for developing teacher education programs to promote contemplative education as a part of whole-person education.
