국문 초록

본 연구는 토마스 아퀴나스의 미를 중심으로 생태그림책에 나타난 존재의 아름다움을 탐색하기 위해 4권의 생태그림책을 토마스 아퀴나스의 미의 범주를 토대로 분석하였다. 현대사회에서는 아름다움에 대한 욕구를 인간의 외모를 획일화된 미의 기준 속에 가두는 학대로 채우고 있으며 유아기에 이미 이러한 미의 기준을 학습하고 있어 진정한 아름다움의 가치를 일깨우는 심미적 교육이 필요하다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 모든 존재에 내재한 아름다움을 말한 토마스 아퀴나스의 미 이론을 중심으로 자연의 아름다움과 자연의 미덕, 자연친화적인 교감을 느끼게 할 뿐 아니라 생명의 소중함, 공존 및 상생의 가치관 등을 내면화할 수 있도록 하는 생태그림책을 재조명하여 존재의 아름다움을 교육하기 위한 심미적 방법으로 제안하였다. 이를 통해 유아들은 모든 존재에서 아름다움을 발견할 수 있는 미적 안목과 아름다움을 즐기고 사유할 수 있는 심미적 태도를 기르며, 현대의 생태적 위기를 극복할 수 있는 생태학적 미덕을 함양할 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.

영문 초록

This study explored the beauty of existence revealed on ecological picture books focusing on the beauty of Thomas Aquinas. Modern society mistreats the human desire for beauty by restricting the appearance of human beings within the uniform standard of beauty; in fact, even infants learn this standard. Therefore, aesthetic education is required to awaken awareness regarding the value of true beauty. Against this backdrop, the aesthetic theory of Thomas Aquinas was explored because he talked about the beauty residing in all that exists. Ecological picture books were also reviewed, as they help internalize the preciousness of life and value of compatibility and coexistence, causing us to feel beauty, recognize the virtue of nature, and engage in nature-friendly communion. Through these methods, it is expected that even infants will be able to develop aesthetic eyes that find beauty in all that exists and an aesthetic attitude to enjoy and contemplate beauty; eventually, children will acquire an ecological virtue to overcome the modern ecological crisis.
