유치원교사의 원격교육 실천 경험과 인식

국문 초록

본 연구는 Covid-19 팬데믹 이후 유치원 현장에서 실시하고 있는 원격교육에 대한 유아교사의 경험을 참여자들의 목소리를 통해 탐색함으로써 초연결사회의 새로운 교육환경에서의 유아교사가 바라보는 그들의 역할과 교사 실천의 의미를 파악하고자 한다. 연구 참여자는 공립유치원에 근무하는 7명의 교사를 선정하였으며 집중면접을 통해 연구 참여자의 이야기를 정교화하고자 시도하였다. 자료 분석은 Charmaz(2014)의 구성주의 근거이론 방법을 사용하였으며 연구 참여자들의 응답을 녹음한 후 전사하여 초기코딩, 초점코딩, 이론적 코딩의 과정을 거쳤다. 이론적 코딩은 데이터에서 출현하는 주제에 따라 원격교육 상황 속에서 교사들이 문제를 해결하기 위해 사용한 전략에 초점을 두어 이루어졌으며, 결과는 1) 혼란 속에서 방향 찾기 2) 원격교육과정 운영을 위한 전략 실천하기 3) 테크놀로지로 연결 확장하기로 나타났다. 유아교사가 밝힌 원격교육에서의 그들의 경험은 초연결사회의 새로운 교육환경에서의 필요한 교사의 역할 및 그들이 지닌 전문성에 대한 해석을 중심으로 논의되었다. 첫째, 협력이 전제되는 교사전문성, 둘째, 테크놀로지 역량이 필요한 교사실천, 셋째, 위계적인 교사전문성, 마지막으로 초연결사회에 연결을 확장시키는 교사실천을 중심으로 논의되었다.

영문 초록

This study explored kindergarten teachers’ experiences of distance education executed in early childhood education after the COVID-19 pandemic. We examined the changing roles of early childhood teachers and the meaning of their practice in a hyper-connected society through teachers’voices. For the study, we selected seven kindergarten teachers and intensively interviewed them using Charmaz’s constructivist grounded theory methodology. The data were analyzed through initial coding, focused coding, and theoretical coding. The results showed that teachers 1) looked for directions to solve problems in confusion, 2) practiced strategies to manage the curriculum for distance education, and 3) expanded connections utilizing technology. The findings were discussed in terms of teacher expertise that requires cooperation, emerging roles of teachers who need technological competencies, hierarchical teacher expertise, finally, teacher practices that expand connections in the hyper-connected society. This study demonstrates that teachers use various strategies in the operation of the curriculum for distance education and actively participate in solving problems, thereby re-recognizing the professionalism of early childhood teachers and expanding the roles of early childhood teachers that are required in a hyper-connected society.
