원효의 지관수행론

국문 초록

원효는 심진여문에 止, 심생멸문에 觀을 대응시켜서 止觀을 실제 수행상의 큰 축으로 삼아왔다. 원효의 사상체계를 대승기신론에 바탕을 둔 一心二門의 체계라고 할 때, 원효는 이 체계를 구체적인 실천의 문제에 적용함에 있어서, 심진여문에 止, 심생멸문에 觀을 대응시키고 있다. 이러한 점에서도 원효가 지관수행론을 중요하게 여겨왔다는 점을 알 수 있다. 원효는 기신론 수행신심분 다섯 가지 수행법 가운데, 유독 止觀에만 많은 공력을 들여서 설명하고 있고, 실제에 있어서는 유가사지론의 구종심주와 사종혜행의 개념을 빌어서 주석하고 있다. 한편 원효의 지관수행론을 평가하는 연구에서는 기신론소에 나오는 지관수행론은 정정취에 들어가지 못한 중생을 위해서 설해진 것이라고 보고, 그 이후의 수행 방법으로 금강삼매경론을 주목하는 연구내용이 있다. 기신론의 다섯 가지 수행론이 說해진 기신론상의 위치로 볼 때 이는 어느 정도 타당한 근거를 확보하고 있다고 할 수 있으나, 정확한 논거가 제시되어 있지 않다. 이러한 견해에 정확한 논거를 확보하려면, 우선 지관수행론으로 도달 가능한 수행계위 상의 계위는 어디인지가 밝혀져야 된다. 따라서 본고에서는 원효의 기신론소에 나타난 지관수행론의 주석 내용을 살펴보고, 그 수행상의 계위를 알아보고자 하였다.그 결과 지관수행이 설해진 기신론상의 위치가 부정취중생을 위한 교설이고, 실제 그 수행의 결과로 오를 수 있는 수행계위도 상사각의 초문 정도인 십주의 위계인 것으로 확인되었다. 그렇다면 추후의 과제는 이후의 수행방법일 것이다. 이를 알아보기 위해서는 원효가 제시하고 있는 제반 수행론들이 지관수행론간의 상호체계 속에서 파악되어져야 할 것이다.

영문 초록

As Wonhyo made Simjinyemun correspond to Ji and Simsangmeulmun to Kwan, Wonhyo considered Ji and Kwan as an axis of ascetic practices. When Wonhyo s thought scheme was thought as the scheme of Ilsimimun based on Daesunggisinnon, Jikwansuhangnon was considered important for applying the scheme to practical problems, corresponding Simjinyemun to Ji and Simsangmeulmun to Kwan. Even as Wonhyo suggested five ways of ascetic practices in Suhangsinsimnon, Gisinnon, he made his more efforts in annotating Ji and Kwan, in practice annotating it with thought of Gujongsimju and Sajonghaehang. In addition, the study, related to evaluating Jikwansuhangnon, noticed that Jikwansuhangnon in Gisinnonso was preached for sentient beings. Now, more studies focus on Gumgangsammaekyung as a way of ascetic practices Given the position of five ascetic practices in Gisinnon, the idea has already secured its valid ground but no exact logical evidences. To secure exact logical evidences of the idea, it firstly has to discover the extent or classes of accomplishment of ascetic practices through Jikwansuhangnon. Under the background, this study attempts to review the annotations of Jiwangsuhangnon mentioned in Gisinnon and to find the classes of its ascetic practices. The result of this study shows that Gisinnon s position preaching Jikwansuhang was for sentient beings, and the accomplishment as the result of its ascetic practices is the low one of ten practice classes, Sangsagak. Then, the next focus of the study may be the ways of ascetic practices. To understand it, Wonhyo s other practice suggestions should be grasped in the boundary of Jikwansuhangnon.
