국문 초록

본 논문에서 죽음과 심리적 트라우마를 연결하여 죽음을 이해하려는 시도를 했다. 지그문트 바우만에 의하면 현대사회는 항상 최신의 것을 경험하는 액체사회 이다. 현대사회는 낡은 것이 존재하지 못하게 최신의 것만이 경험되는 사회이다. 바우만의 비평에 동의하여볼 때 현대사회는 낡은 것을 경시하는 풍조가 지배적임을 경험할 수 있다. 이러한 풍조 속에서 죽음을 경시하거나 회피 또는 극복하려는 사회적 경향은 피할 수 없는 현실이다. 그러므로 죽음을 경험한 트라우마 생존자의 목소리는 간과되거나 살아있는 자의 관점에서 죽음의 목소리를 이해하려고 한다. 본 논문에서는 트라우마 심리학의 관점에서 죽음을 이해하려고 시도하면서 죽음을 삶과 공존하는 실재(實在) 라고논한다. 엠마누엘 레비나스의 철학에 의지하여 삶의 변방 또는 삶의 종결에서 경험하는 실재가 아니라 삶과 공존하는절대적 타자로서 죽음을 이해하고 있다. 삶과 공존하는 절대적 타자로서 죽음을 이해하면서 시도하는 죽음교육은 죽음을 수시로 경험하는 트라우마 생존자가 공존할 수 있는 사회로 변화시킬 수 있는 교육이 될 수 있다. 트라우마 생존자가공존할 수 있도록 돕는 죽음교육을 위해 필자는 절대적 타자로서 죽음을 인정하고 죽음의 목소리를 경청하기를 강조하고 있다. 트라우마 생존자가 공존할 수 있는 사회를 만들기 위한 죽음교육으로서 죽음의 목소리를 명명하고 기억하기를 강조하고 있다. 절대적 타자로서 죽음을 인정하고 대화를 할 때 삶이 아니라 죽음을 통해 우리가 속한 사회적 현실을반추할 수 있다.

영문 초록

This article aims to comprehend human death in light of psychological trauma. According to Zigmunt Bauman, current society can be called ‘liquid life’ in which recency is advocated and the latest human life is experienced. In this current society, the old fashioned is underestimated while the latest is overestimated. A tendency to underestimate the ancient one or the old fashioned one is substantially dominant in this society. In effect, this society may either disregard the voice of trauma survivors who still experience the deceased or comprehend the voice of death from the perspective of the living. This article is an attempt to understand death in light of psychological trauma and to suggest that death is a reality which co-exist with life. This article relies upon Emmanuel Levinas in order to emphasize that death is not just the reality that is experienced at the end of life but the absolute other that co�exists with life. When Christian education attempts to educate people to accept co-existence of death and life, it may help to build the society where trauma survivors are allowed to live together with others though they continue to experience the dead. Acceptance of death as absolute other and listening to the voice of the dead are suggested in order to build the society where trauma survivors live together with others. In addition, it is to name the voice of the dead and remember them. When death is acknowledged to be the absolute other, we can critically reflect upon our society not through the eyes of the living but through the eyes of the dead.
