조선총독부 제생원 맹아부 아본과(盲啞部 啞本科)의 농교육사적 고찰

국문 초록

이 연구는 제생원 맹아부 아본과가 오늘날 우리나라 농교육에 미친 영향을 농교육사적 관점에서 밝히고자 하였다. 그 결과 특수교육적 의의로는 첫째, 제생원의 설립은 우리나라 농맹인의 교육 가능성의 탐색과 동시에 사회적 인식개선에 이바지하였다. 둘째, 제생원은 조선총독부 산하 관립으로 설립되어 농맹인의 교육이 공교육으로 자리를 잡게 하였다. 셋째, 제생원의 조직화된 교육과정은 초기의 특수학교 모습을 갖추는 구실점이 되었다. 농교육적 의의로는 첫째, 수어와 한국 농사회의 발생지로 오늘날 수어와 문자를 바탕으로 원활한 의사소통을 가능케 하였다. 둘째, 아본과의 교육과정은 우리나라 농교육과정의 기틀을 마련하였다. 셋째, 수어반과 구화반의 이원화된 학급을 편성·운영하여 농인의 언어 선택권을 부여하였다. 결론적으로 제생원 맹아부 아본과는 한국의 농인들에게 실생활에 필요한 지식과 기능적인 직업교육을 제공한 우리나라 최초의 관립 농교육 기관이었다.

영문 초록

This study aims to consider the effect of the curriculum for the Deaf in the blind department of Jesaengwon on Korean Deaf education today from the perspective of Deaf education history. In terms of special education, the significances are as follows. First, the establishment of Jesaengwon served as a momentum to look into the educative potential for the Korean Deaf-blind and made a contribution to the improvement in social awareness at the same time. Second, Jasaengwon, built as a government institution affiliated to the Japanese Government General of Korea, made education for the blind-deaf establish as public education. Third, the organized curriculum of Jasaengwon became a pivot for the form of early special-education school. In terms of deaf education, the significances are as follows. First, as the birthplace of Sign Language and Korean Deaf society, it facilitated smooth communication based on Sign Language and letters. Second, the curriculum for the Deaf laid the foundation for Korean Deaf curriculums. Third, the division of class into a Sign Language class and an oralism class provided the Deaf with the right to choose language. In conclusion, the curriculum for the Deaf in the blind department of Jesaengwon was Korea’s first government Deaf education institution, where provided necessary knowledge in daily life and functional vocational training for the Deaf in Korea.
