경산 임당 1호분 출토 이식의 합금 조성 및 제작기법 고찰

국문 초록

경산 임당고분군의 1호분에서는 총 3쌍의 형태가 다른 금제, 금동제 이식이 출토되었다. 이들 이식은 각각 주곽의 주피장자와 순장자, 부곽 순장자의 인골의 머리 위치에 놓여 있어 이들의 착장품으로추정되고 있다. 고분에서 수습한 금제이식은 보존처리 후, 현미경 조사를 실시하여 제작기법 및 표면의특성을 조사하고, SEM-EDS로 비파괴 분석하여 금제이식의 합금 특성을 알아보았다. 이식의 형식은부곽 순장자 이식－주곽 순장자 이식－주곽 주피장자 이식의 순서로 그 시기성에 차이를 보일 수 있으나, 앞시기의 특징이 뒷시기에도 이어질 수 있다는 점과 매장된 3쌍의 착장자별 신분 차이 역시 고려되어야 할 사항이다. 이는 매장자의 지위에 따라 각기 제작에 사용된 바탕 재료가 다르며, 그 기능 및 성격에 따라서도 금 순도와 제작기법이 상이할 수 있음을 보여준다. 주피장자의 이식이 순장자의 이식에비해 금 함량이 전체적으로 높지만 각각의 부속품 중 구조적 요소보다 장식적 역할이 필요한 부위에서는 보다 금 함량이 높다. 이는 눈에 띄는 부분에 의도적으로 보다 금 함량이 높은 재료를 선택하여 제작하였다고 볼 수 있다. 또한 금제이식의 연구는 단순한 형태 외에도 성분비, 매장형태에 따라 다른 해석이 존재할 수 있다는 것을 보여준다. 금제이식에 대한 과학적 분석결과는 경산지역을 중심으로 하는신라 주변지역의 금제이식과 타 지역 간의 상관관계를 비교하는 기반자료를 제공한다.

영문 초록

From the ancient tomb No.1 in Imdang, Gyeongsan, three ear ornaments were excavated. Each ear ornament was discovered at the location of a head from the dead and the attendant sacrificially buried in the main coffin together, and from another attendant sacrificially buried in the subsidiary coffin of burial goods, which suggests that ear ornaments were carried on the deceased. After conservation treatment for excavated ear ornaments, manufacturing techniques and characteristic of the surface were investigated through microscopy, and base materials were analyzed by SEM-EDS to identify base materials. Based on the type of ear ornaments, they can be classified into different periods in the order of attendant’s ornament in the subsidiary coffin, attendant’s ornament in the main coffin and buried person’s ornament in the main coffin. However, it should be considered that the former type of the ear ornament can be continued into the following period as well as buried persons belonged to the different class. It is more underpinned by that different base materials for those ornaments were used by the social status of buried persons and the elemental composition and manufacturing techniques are also differently applied by functions and characteristics of ear ornaments. On the whole, the gold content of ear ornaments from the dead is higher than that from the attendant buried with the dead, and silver contents of structural areas is higher than that of decorative areas. It is thought that they were manufactured with intentionally increased strength of alloy to support their weight and structure. In other words, it suggests that the study on ear ornaments can vary according to the elemental composition and buried type beyond their shape-based types. In addition, it is expected that this study will be utilized as fundamental materials to find out the regional correlation of ear ornaments between regions of Sila focusing Gyeongsan through more delicate and various analyses.
