양초의 연소와 소화 현상에서 초등 예비교사가 인식하는 연소 및 소화 조건에 대한 이해

국문 초록

이 연구에서는 양초의 연소와 소화 현상에서 초등 예비교사가 연소 조건을 어떻게 이해하고 있는지 를 분석하였다. 예비교사에게 제시된 연소와 소화 현상은 초등과학 교과서의 ‘연소와 소화’ 단원에 제시된 활동 내용에서 선정하여 질문 내용으로 구성하였다. 질문은 점화기로 촛불을 켜는 친숙한 상황과 함께 탈 물질, 발화점, 산소라는 연소 조건이 응답의 핵심 개념인 총 4개의 문항으로 구성 되어 있다. 질문에 대한 초등 예비교사 70명의 응답 내용을 네 가지 이해 수준으로 분석한 결과는 다음과 같다. 점화기로 촛불을 켜는 친숙한 상황과 탈 물질에 대한 연소 조건의 이해 수준은 비교 적 높았으나, 탈 물질이 발화점 이상의 온도를 유지할 수 있는 원인과 산소가 존재하고 있음에도 불구하고 불이 꺼지는 현상에 대해서는 이해 수준이 낮은 편이었다. 이러한 결과를 토대로 교원양 성 교육과정에서의 과학교과 지도에 대한 시사점을 제시하였다.

영문 초록

The purpose of the study is to analyze how elementary pre-service teachers comprehend combustion during the process of burning and extinguishing of candles. The burning and extinguishing phenomena presented to the pre-service teachers were selected from activities in the unit of ‘combustion and extinguishment’ of the 2015 revised elementary science textbook. The question comprised four items, with the familiar situation of the lighting of a candle with an igniter, and combustion conditions such as fuel, ignition temperature, and oxygen as the core concepts of the response. The results of the study are as follows. The familiar situation of lighting a candle with an igniter and the level of understanding of the combustion conditions for fuel were relatively high. However, the reasons for the fuel to maintain a temperature above the ignition temperature, and the phenomenon of the fire extinguishing despite the presence of oxygen were poorly understood. Based on these results, implications for the teacher training curriculum were recommended.
