수형자의 정신건강과 폭력성

국문 초록

이 연구는 정신장애 범법자의 범죄 현황을 살펴보고 이들에 대한 적절한 개입과 재범방지를 위한방안을 마련하기 위해 우리나라 수형자의 PAI-PS 자료를 활용하여 이들의 정신건강과 폭력성 문제를살펴보고자 하였다. 이를 위해 PAI 증보판 표준화 표본과 PAI-PS 표준화 표본에서 각각 남성 678명의자료를 무선 추출하여 임상척도와 폭력성 척도, 진단함수의 점수를 비교하고, 수형자 중 재범 유무, 정신장애 진단유무, 흉기사용 유무에 따른 차이를 검증하였다. 수형자는 불안, 불안관련 척도를 제외한나머지 PAI-PS 임상척도 및 공격성 척도 및 진단함수에서 일반인보다 점수가 유의미하게 높았다. 또한 진단함수에서도 .수형자 중 재범자와 정신장애로 진단받은 경우 모든 임상척도와 폭력성 척도의점수가 초범 및 진단을 받지 않은 수형자보다 유의미하게 높았다. 진단함수에 대한 차이검증에서는재범자가 주요 우울장애, 경계선 성격 및 반사회적 성격 진단함수의 점수가 초범자보다 유의미하게상승하였고, 정신장애 진단을 받은 경우 주요 우울장애, 외상후 스트레스장애 및 경계선 성격의 진단함수 점수가 유의미하게 상승하였다. 마지막으로 이러한 결과의 의미에 관해 논의하고, 이 연구의 제한점과 제언점을 제시하였다.

영문 초록

The study sought to examine the current status of crimes committed by offenders who have mental disorders and the problems of their mental health and violence by utilizing the PA-PS data of Korean prisoners in order to come up with an appropriate intervention and counterplan to prevent recidivism. To this end, data from 678 males were randomly extracted from the PAI enlarged version standardized sample and the PAI-PS standardized sample, respectively, to compare the scores of clinical scales, violence related scales, and diagnostic functions, and the differences among the inmates were verified according to whether they were recidivist, diagnosed mental disorders and used weapons during the events. According to the analysis, inmates scored significantly higher on the PAI-PS clinical scale and violence scales than the general sample except for anxiety and anxiety-related scales. In addition, in the diagnostic function, recidivist and inmates with mental disorders scored significantly higher on scores of all clinical and violence scales than first-time and undiagnosed inmates. In the difference test for diagnostic functions, the recidivist s scores of major depression, borderline personality and antisocial personality diagnostic functions were significantly higher than those of the first offender, and the diagnostic function scores of major depression, post-traumatic stress disorder, and borderline personality were significantly higher when diagnosed with a mental disorder. Finally, the implications and limitations of these results were discussed.
