국문 초록

미술영재의 다양한 특성에 대한 논의는 대부분 미술영재들의 행동과 성취결과 즉, 작품으로 제시되었다. 본 연구는 4년 동안 관찰한 사례연구를 통해 미술영재의 성취결과가 나타나도록 하는 변인을 밝혔다. 본 연구에서 수집된 참여 관찰과 심층 면담 자료는 한국교육개발원(2005)의 종단 연구에 제시된 개인적, 환경적, 교육적 관련 변인을 근거로 분석되었다. 본 연구 대상자인 L군은 연구자가 초등 4학년부터 중학생인 현재 까지 약4년 동안 관찰한 결과 개인적인 신상의 변화로 미술영재성 발현에 영향을 미치는 개인관련, 환경관련변인을 찾아내는데 적합한 사례였다. 또한 3차례 개인전에 발표된 작품들에서 높은 수준의 사실적 묘사력뿐만 아니라 실험적이고 도전적인 다양한 표현 양식들이 지속적으로 발견되었기 때문이다. 본 사례연구를 통해 밝혀진 미술영재성을 발현시키는 개인관련변인들과 환경관련변인들은 미술영재들의 잠재 가능성 판별과 초, 중등미술영재교육의 방향 설정의 근거로 자료로 활용 될 수 있다.

영문 초록

Discussions on the various characteristics of the gifted in visual arts have been made mainly on their behaviors and achievements, that is, their works. This study identified the variables that act on the behaviors and achievements of the gifted in visual arts with a 5-year case study. As the variables aecting the manifestation of giftedness have been revealed mainly by longitudinal studies, the participant observation and in-depth interview data collected in this study were analyzed based on the individual-, environment- and education-related variables presented in the longitudinal study of the Korean Educational Development Institute (2005). The subject of this study, L, has been observed by the researcher for five years, since he was a third-grader of elementary school until now that he is a middle-school student. It was considered that the case is suitable for the study on the individual- and environment-related variables a ecting the manifestation of artistic giftedness because he experienced personal changes during the study period and the works presented in his three solo exhibitions continued to display experimental, challenging, and diverse modes of expression as well as a high level of realistic representation ability. It is suggested that the individual- and environment-related variables aecting the manifestation of artistic giftedness revealed through this case study be a key factor in determining the orientation of the assessment of the potential of the gifted in visual arts and of the education for these students.
