미술교육에서 ‘자기이해’와 창의·인성

국문 초록

이 연구는 ‘자기와 세계를 이해하는 한 수단’인 미술과 우리 교육의 큰 틀인 창의·인성 교육을 연결하고자 하는 시도이다. 이를 위하여 창의성과 인성의 공통 토대이자 연결 고리를 ‘자기이해’로 보고 리쾨르의 서사 해석학에 근거하여 살펴보았다. 리쾨르의 ‘이야기적 정체성’에 근거할 때, 나는 누구인가라는 자기이해는 매개를 통한 간접적 이해로서 ‘이야기’라는 창조 행위를 통하여 가능함을 알 수 있었다. 이론적 검토를 토대로 창의성은 자기이해를 통한 자기 형성의 과정에서 발견되는 각 개인이 가진 고유성으로, 인성은 자기 안의 타자성을 이해하고 타자와의 좋은 삶을 꿈꾸며 배려하는 능력으로 재정의 하였다. 마지막으로 앞으로의 미술교육은 자기이해의 관점이 강화될 필요가 있음을 주장하였다.

영문 초록

This paper is an attempt to connect fine art as a medium of understanding self and the world to creativity-character education as a dimension of the great frame of education. We assumed that self-comprehension is not only the common ground of creativity and character but also a chain connecting the two concepts, and tried to illustrate the assumption on the basis of Ricoeur s hermeneutics. Ricoeur s narrative identity suggests that understanding who I am is an indirect comprehension that can be accomplished via an action of building a story of myself. Review of Ricoeur s position enables us to see creativity as an individual s uniqueness (or singularity) that is disclosed in the process of self-formation in harmony with self-comprehension. Also, human character can be viewed as ability of dreaming better life and caring about others by means of understanding of otherness that resides inside oneself. Therefore it is argued that fine art education may need to give more consideration to the importance of self-comprehension.
