중학교 교사가 경험한 전북 혁신교육

국문 초록

이 연구의 목적은 혁신교육을 실천한 전북 중학교 교사들의 경험을 기술․해석․평가하는 것이다. 연구참여자는 5명이었고, 연구방법은 교육평설이었다. 참여자들의 경험을 요약하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 교사들은 동료나 선배의 권유로 혁신교육을 경험한다. 둘째, 혁신교육을 경험하면서 교사들은 자신의 교직인생에 큰 영향을 미치는 ‘인상적인’경험을 하고 있다. 셋째, 혁신학교와 비혁신학교의 차이를 교사 간 협업문화의 유무로 생각하고 있다. 넷째, 혁신학교 교사들은 교과서를 던지기 위해 노력하고 있다. 다섯째, 중학교에서 과정중심평가는 아직 확산되지 못하고 있다. 여섯째, 혁신교육의 용어는 확산되었으나 체험의 복제는 아직 미진하다. 일곱째, 혁신중학교에 학력신장 잣대를 들이대는 것은 부당하다고 인식하고 있다. 여덟째, 전북혁신교육은 나름 성공을 거두고 있다고 자평하고 있다. 아홉째, 혁신교육의 지속을 위해서는 혁신학교수를 늘리기보다 사람을 키워야 한다고 생각하고 있다. 연구참여자들의 이러한 9가지 경험의 중요성을 평가하고 논의한 다음 혁신교육을 지속하기 위한 제언을 하였다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to describe, interpret, and evaluate the experiences of middle school teachers who practiced innovative education in Jeonbuk province, South Korea. Research participants were five middle school teachers and the utilized research method was educational criticism. The following were experienced by participants. First, a peer or a senior teacher takes central role in spreading innovative education to another teacher. Second, teachers are having an experience that influences their life as a teacher in the process of practicing innovative education. Third, the presence of cooperative culture among teachers is the key factor to draw a line between innovative schools and non-innovative schools. Fourth, teachers who practice innovative education work hard to overcome textbook-centered teaching. Fifth, process-centered evaluation is not spreading in middle schools. Sixth, the reproduction of an experience of innovative education is not successful while the language of innovative education has been spreading. Seventh, it is unreasonable to use a standardized test score to judge whether an innovative middle school is successful or not. Eighth, teachers working at Jeonbuk innovative middle schools are achieving what they wanted. Ninth, it is more critical to train innovative teachers and administrators than to increase the number of innovative schools. The importance of these nine experiences of participants is evaluated and discussed, and a suggestion for policy makers is made.
