대학생의 스트레스가 자살사고에 미치는 영향: 희망성향의 조절효과

국문 초록

본 연구는 일상적 생활사건 스트레스 및 중대한 생활사건 스트레스가 자살사고에 미치는 영향에서 희망성향이 조절 역할을 하는지를 알아보고자 하였다. 특히 희망성향은 경로사고(pathway thinking)와 주도사고(agency thinking)로 구분하여 살펴보았다. 연구 대상은 수도권 소재의 4년제 대학교의 대학생 280명이며, 연구 도구는 한국판 희망성향 척도, 일상적 스트레스 척도, 생활경험조사 질문지, 자살사고 척도를 사용하였다. 측정된 자료는 조절효과를 알아보기 위해 SPS 18.0 프로그램을 사용하여 위계적 회귀분석을 실시하였다. 연구결과, 중대한 생활사건 스트레스와 자살사고의 관계에서 희망성향의 경로사고(pathway thinking)가 조절효과를 보였다. 이 연구는 중대한 생활사건 스트레스 상황에 처해있는 대학생들에게 희망성향의 경로 사고의 측면에서의 치료적 개입을 하는 것이 자살사고를 줄여줄 수 있다는 것을 밝혔으며, 개인이 가지고 있는 희망성향을 발굴하거나 개발함으로서 자살사고를 예방할 수 있음을 시사한다는 점에서 그 의의가 있다. 마지막으로 본 연구의 제한점과 추후 연구방향에 대한 제안을 하였다.

영문 초록

The present study examined the controlling effect of hope disposition to manage stress from life events on one’s suicidal ideation. Based on Snyder, LaPonte, Crowson and Early (1998), hope disposition in the study was defined in terms of pathway thinking and agency thinking. 280 four year college students participated in the study. The measures used included K-DHS, Hassles Scale, Life Experience Survey Questionnaire and Scale for Suicide Ideation. In order to test the controlling effects, the hierarchical regression analysis with SPSS 18.0 was employed. The results revealed that the pathway thinking of the hope disposition has the control effects on the relationships between the major life events stress and the suicidal ideation. The study proved that the treatment with the pathway thinking of the hope disposition would decrease the suicidal ideation caused by college students’ stress from major life events. The significance of this study exists in that it revealed that discovery and development of hope disposition along with one’s positive psychological characteristic, would prevent the suicidal ideation. Limitations and future direction were further discussed in the study.
