미술치료를 통해 삶의 의미를 찾아가는 한 여성노인의 내러티브 탐구*

국문 초록

본 연구의 목적은 한 여성노인이 미술치료를 통해서 무엇을 경험하며 그 경험의 의미는 무엇인지를 내러티브 탐구방법으로 알아보는 것이다. 연구의 참여자는 자살생각 및 우울 등의 증세를 호소하고 있는 83세의 초고령 여성노인이다. 연구의 참여자에게 2016년 4월부터 9월까지 총 21회기의 의미치료를 배경으로 한 미술치료를 실시하였다. 미술치료 과정에서의 모든 대화내용과 미술작품, 관찰기록 등의 자료를 수집하였다. 수집된 자료를 토대로 분석한 결과, 참여자의 미술치료 경험이야기는 ‘이런 거 난생처음 해본다’, ‘애달팠던 지난 삶을 회상하다’, ‘여느 여자 같으면 못살았다’, ‘자식 보며 참고 부지런히도 살았다’, ‘원통하고 분한 마음을 풀어내고 토해내다’, ‘상처투성이인 마음에 약을 발라주다’, ‘잃어버렸던 나를 그림 속에서 만나다’라는 7개의 주제가 도출되었다. 이러한 경험이야기를 토대로 그 경험의 의미를 ‘미술치료사와 미술을 통해 몸과 맘이 치유되다’, ‘그림 속에 내 존재가 피어나게 되다’, ‘이제! 그림은 내 삶에 선물이 되다’로 이끌어내었다. 이상으로 미술치료 경험을 통해 한 여성노인의 삶의 의미를 찾아가는 과정과 그 경험의 의미를 심층적으로 이해할 수 있었다.

영문 초록

This study aimed to figure out what a female elderly person experiences through art therapy and the meaning of the experience by using narrative inquiry method. The study participant was a 83-year-old woman who complained the symptoms such as suicidal thinking and depression. Twenty one sessions of art therapy based on logotherapy were performed for this study subject from April to September in 2016. Data from the art therapy process were collected including all the conversation contents, artworks, observation records, and so on. Based on the analysis results from the collected data, seven topics were deducted from her art therapy experiences; ‘this is my first time in my life,’ ‘I recall my sad past life,’ ‘no woman lived like this,’ ‘I have lived diligently with patience looking for my son,’ ‘a heart of resentment is exposed and solved,’ ‘it applies the medicine to my mind which is all about trauma,’ and ‘I met myself who had been lost from the picture.’ Based on these experience stories, the following meanings of the experiences were deducted; ‘my body and soul were healed by art therapist and arts,’ ‘my existence becomes alive in the picture,’ and ‘Now, the pictures become the presents of my life.’ From these art therapy experiences, the process to seek the meaning of life in an old woman and the meanings of the experiences were understood in detail.
